I ordered the Spigen tempered glass $29.99 after the Progadget customer service on Ebay confirmed that it is working fine with the fingerprint scanner. They said they are using it themselve and it works. Hope it lasts a lifetime :) for the price.
Going to give it a try and report back if good.
Side note: i ordered the Spigen clear case from Progadget too. I always use Spigen rugged case for all my phones and never had an issue/accident. Touch wood.

Do the Spigen Clear cases ever discolour over time like some clear cases I've seen turning a brownish colour?
Yes, most of the clear case will "discolor" over time. My 2 year old Spigen clear case (Google HW 6P phone) "tanned" a bit if you compare to a brand new case side by side. I gave up with the 6P battery not because of the case.

I ordered both of the above (tend to buy multiple when getting a new phone) to test them out, no issues with the first link.
Second link the case does its job but the tempered glass sadly arrived damaged.
