Getting my Bilstein shockers rebuilt soon and I am wondering what is actually involved in a full shock rebuild specifically for the Bilsteins? Mine are shot which is known to happen after 100,000km on my model Subaru. Would they be totally rebuild internally? Pistons, bushings, shaft, oil gas etc?
Bilstein Shock Rebuild

Even for Bilsteins? I understand if they are stock Bilsteins (not sure if these are actually a thing) like those Brembos they fit standard with some cars, they're entry level to the brand.
My Ohlins TTx was expensive AF and I'd hate to think it is going to cost me more when it comes time to rebuild. :(
They are just "stock" Bilsteins found standard on Subaru's, Toyota's etc. If you can buy shocks for $350 a corner or less, it's silly to rebuild them. If your shocks are $1000+, rebuilding makes sense. Rebuild is probably around $250 or so.
Ring up Heasmans (or Quadrant in Victoria IIRC) and see what they say short of stripping it down. You might want to price up the equivalent B6 replacement - rebuilds doesn't necessarily save you any cash unless you want some adjustments made to the valving during rebuild.
Cheers for the replies fellas.
Rebuild both front struts will cost just under $800 and that is with a new alignment and labour, strut tops and some bushings etc. It's through Bilstein directly they even said it's cheaper than if you were to go new. They just recommended it as i'll save money and they said the way they rebuild them they will last much longer than factory.
This is why I wonder if they actually change everything internally. They are being done in a couple of weeks so just wanted to get some insight on what to expect for a full rebuild. Won't be without a car for 2 days but that's not an issue as I got a company car anyhow. They did say the left front and left rear are really really soft. The left front makes a rattle/knock sound over even the most smallest bumps in the road. Bloody drives me mad lol

I don't know man. I'd have thought all parts replacements are OE with standard rebuild procedure to factory spec.
Unless they up-spec it during the rebuild, else if it's just the 'way' they rebuild it that makes it longer lasting - Sounds like hot air to me. (You know, "hand built quality workmanship with tighter tolerances than factory machine")
Pistons likely won't be replaced, shafts would be checked for straightness and pitting. Oil and gas would obviously be replaced, as well as seals. Honestly, unless you are getting them revalved to specific specs, it's probably cheaper and easier to buy new ones. You are going to be without a car the entire time they are getting removed, rebuilt and refitted. Much easier to swap over.
