Down Under Host reserves the right to change the Terms of Service and all policies at any time without notifying clients.

    • Sorry if this has caused any confusion.

We are currently reviewing the TOS and will be publishing a revised one in the coming weeks :)

      Thanks,

      • No confusion at all, the TOS is clear as crystal. I was considering moving a couple of domains but with that kind of TOS I'm concerned you are trying to build a customer base really quickly and then sell out to a larger company.

        • I see where you are coming from and understand as this has happened to me personally in the past (OnACloud to VentraIP)

We are in the process of spinning up a brand new node in Sydney and Melbourne. With these new nodes will come new plans and services :)

The terms and service is regardless getting a make over to cater for our upcoming services.

          Thanks,
          -Dylan

  • Will this price be available for recurring billing or will the price revert to full price after the first year?

    • Hi Jepiterr,

This is a recurring offer, the price will stay the same for the life of the service :)

      Thanks,

I've got one of these services, it's actually pretty good for small websites.
I have a few wordpress sites on my host and it's surprisingly snappy.

    Pretty happy customer.

    • Thanks for the positive feedback :)

I got the $16 deal …..only down side is online help and knowledge base is bare for people new to cloud ..

My other account is with Zuver lots of help files and examples for new comers.

    • Working on knowledge base as we speak.

      Thanks for the feedback!

  • Nice deal, though it's coming up as $10.40 for me.

    • Hi Finner,

$10.40AUD/year is the official price, as its exactly 35% off our entry level plan.

Sorry to cause any confusion - i have updated the title to reflect :)

      Thanks,

      • Thanks for the clarification. Shame though, was a nice round figure!

  • How do I register a domain without ABN?🤔

    • You can register any TLD without an ABN except for the following TLDs .com.au, .net.au and .org.au

      Thanks,

  • Be Warned! This deal title is written to be misleading.

Generally 'SSD Web Hosting' refers to high-speed VPS hosting.
OP's deal is actually selling 'Shared Hosting'. While Shared Hosting can still use SSD, they are very, VERY slow, and tends to be insecure.

    Difference?

    1. Storage
Generally, With $15 a month, the true 'SSD Web Hosting', or VPS Hosting gets you about 20Gb of Storage.
Generally, With $15 a month, Share Hosting gets you 500GB of Storage.

    2. Speed
VPS is know to be significantly faster. If running eCommerce store, make sure only use SSD VPS Web Hosting
Shared Hosting is know to be slow and insecure.

    Breaking it down:

The $10 per year price simple is NOT sustainable, and you can imaging the quality of support.

    • A network technician costs $40 an hour.
    • Hacked Site Recovery $100~$400 per case
    • A single cPanel (Hosting System, like Windows 10 for your PC) license already costs $10~15 a month.
    • If not using Hosting System, get ready to waste a few days if not weeks on some serious Linux shit. How much is your time worth?
    • Site Speed Lost of Customer Infinity

    Conclusion

Even with OzBargin spirit, I wouldn't go anywhere near shared hosting for myself or my clients. The time wasted battling with bug fixes, virus cleans, configuring, costs WAY WAY more than just using a good host.

      Hi Jacktator,

Web hosting and VPS hosting are 2 separate services altogether. You can see under 'features' that we explain our infrastructure in better depth.

Our SSD Web Hosting plan is, in fact, SSD Powered and functions as web hosting. We are not advertising VPS services.

For 2GB of SSD space, it is most definitely sustainable. The plan is designed for users that operate small blogs, landing pages, and small business sites that do not require the price and/or SSD space of a VPS. VPS does not necessarily need to be used for web hosting.

When it comes to speed, we are using Cloudlinux and Litespeed to ensure each clients site performs the way it should, fast and reliable. Im sure our existing clients can vouch for that!

If we were advertising VPS services our title would look much different. Most providers these days sell in multiple ways, the most common wording is 'KVM VPS' or 'SSD VPS'.

      Thanks,

I have some clients on shared hosting and some on VPS. The shared hosting (VentraIP), while not as fast as the VPS (AWS), is perfectly fine. Zero time spent on bugfixes and virus cleans over many years. The hosting provider takes care of bugfixes as you would expect. As for time spent on configuring, surely that is a fraction of the time you would spend configuring a web server? I mean, that's part of the appeal of shared hosting, along with the cheaper prices.

I can't speak for this company but shared hosting is a perfectly adequate solution for many, especially those that don't have server admin experience.
