Bose SoundSport Free Wireless Headphones (Black) $220 Delivered @ avgreatbuys eBay

POOLTIME

I have been looking around for wireless earbuds - still on the fence between these Bose or the Jabra Elite Active 65T… I would prefer the Jabra because of BT 5.0 and it's more discrete, however I'm not sure because I've never really liked in-ear buds - whereas the Bose kind of just hooks and sits against your ear.

If you like the coloured ones, they're selling it via a separate listing here: Coloured

The Jabra Elite Active 65T are also on sale $248.

Tried both, prefer my Jabras. They've never fallen out at the gym or playing basketball. Great all around.

Why would you wear them playing basket ball ?

      • he he can jump higher like jordan

      • +1

i like listening to music when i train

    • I got my Jabras this week, first thing they stood out at me was how snug they went into earvout of the box, never had a fit quite like it.
I've bought them more for phone calls and podcasts so they suite my needs perfectly, but I can't complain about the sound for music. Great app too, I can get any sound I want with that…

The reason I went with Jabra Elite 65t is because you don't look like Frankenstein when you wear them.
The Bose looks like you have bolts hanging out of your ears.

    • Is this any good? Been eyeing on this one for some time.

    • I’m leaning towards the Jabra’s, but I’m worried I might not like the in-ear…

      • +1

Jabra Elite 65t is very comfortable. I can wear them all day and no pain in ear.
        Sound quality is very good.

        Only gripe i have is:
        1. Cannot use Left earpiece by itself - this is a inherent limitation in almost all true wireless earbuds, so its fine.
        2. If you are having a call, and the room is completely quiet, there is a very faint static in the left earpiece, but not a deal breaker as music and everything works perfectly.

        • agree about the point 1! and no magnet on the charging case.

          • @CyberMurning: I find its actually quite easy to charge it even without magnets to align the earpieces. Since they perfectly contoured the charging case, so that even if you don't put it in perfectly aligned, it will slide the earpieces before it closes to ensure it is perfectly aligned.

            • @lplau: yes but sometimes when you open you feel like you will drop them one day, if with magnet they will be safer

        • How is the play time and recharge time? And what's the difference betwee the Active and this? Thanks.

          • +1

@Dealpool: Its the same, except the Active is: IP56 which means you can simply flush it under the tap to clean it, and its pretty much sweatproof. Also it contains a pedometer.

Both Normal and Active version has 5hrs runtime and 10hrs in the charge case. So under a full charge you can get through 15hrs. I use them at work for about 2-3hrs a day, and it lasts me 5 days so i only recharge on the weekend.

It has fast recharge, so sticking it in the charging case you will get 1.5hrs per 15minutes that it is in the charging case.

i tried both. i prefer jabra.
    cons for bose:
    - bt 4 not 5
    - looks big and make your head funny. its just silly.
    - buttons on bose are wayyyy too hard to press. its just silly.
    - if you want to use/listen with one bud, can do with the right only….. but then on the right you dont have music playback controls.
    - when receive call sound will come through to one bud only.

    but cons for jabra:
    - no magnet on the case. dont know why not..
    - if you want to use/listen with one bud, can do with the right only….. but then on the right you dont have music playback controls.

    • How well do the Jabra stay in your ear compared to the Bose? Did you try running with them?

      • no didnt use them for running but both quite secure i think. bose is good because of the "wing". but stick too far out. jabra stay put, eventhough without wings.

Charging time: 2 hours <<< Epic Fail
Battery life: 5 hours per full charge

  • how are the drivers in these?

already got myself Edifier TWS2 with 8mm drivers, 32ohm impedance good sensitivity etc so curious as to how these are an upgrade

    • +1

where and how much did you pay for that edifier, looks good but i couldnt find a shop link that sell them.

      • +2

Joybuy has them for $58.47 shipped - Edifier TWS2
        I just ordered a pair

        • +1

cool. now hopefully @adrianH can give us some short reviews. interested to know the touch control and battery life in particular.

          • +2

@CyberMurning: No touch control on this model just the press buttons.

I came from Meizu POP which had touch controls that were about as unreliable as Clive Palmer having a sane day. Meizu had ok bass but hardly any to write home about. I liked the build of the Meizu and the comfort but ultimately even with strong bass set in EQ of PowerAmp, it sucked. Aesthetics were nice and blue rings around it while charging etc plus USB C charging.

As for Edifier TWS2, night and day above in terms of quality. Cleaner output and the bass strikes much harder and deeper, I'd say it's just about the same as my old Xiaomi wired Pro HD earphones. Sensitivity and impedance almost match the Pro HD too.

Otherwise : crappy rubber on eartips make for a mushy experience if you push the buttons on the earphones themselves. It's like pushing a Starburst into your ear. It doesn't bother me cos I use my WearOS watch to switch songs on the go etc, but I can see it bothering other folks. The charging case is more flimsy than the Meizu but it is a nicer aesthetic in its own way and yeah only microUSB charging which can be either good or bad.

Battery life is ok pretty much on par with the Meizu but Charging Case goes to half on the indicator lights very quickly. Could be an issue with my unit but that isn't reported correctly so it's a load of shit. I get the 12 /13 hours altogether out of it.

Also you can see the battery status displayed in notification bar with the Edifier cos they're Bluetooth 5.0 which you can't see with the Meizu (only Bluetooth 4.2).

Would I recommend these for $60? Like I said I haven't tested the high end Bluetooth earphones but with the specs and decent bass I don't see what the point is to spend that much money.

Gets a big thumbs up from me.

(Edifier TWS5 coming soon apparently with 32hrs battery life and aptX, so keeping an eye out for that)

          Good man/woman :)

  • Can anyone give any insight on the difference between the Jabra Elite Sport and the 65t? Are they basically the same, except the Sport has the VO2 Max and heart rate monitor? I've destroyed so many pairs of headphones while running (sweat/rain/general wear and tear) - I need some that are indestructible.

I can get the Jabra for $175 from JB

    • Are you able to show how? Also, are you referring to the non-active or active?

      • have to be the non active…
