Recommend Me Study Material for Accounting

Greetings fellow Ozbargainer's.

I’m considering studying a diploma in accounting.
I've just been googling and being a newbie to the world of finance I'm finding it a wee bit difficult, so I've created this post in the hopes that some of the Ozbargain financial whizzes could recommend me some material to study be it books, websites YouTube etc.
I’d also be very grateful for any helpful info, tips etc.

Happy Ozbargaining, Wystri Warrick.

Update :
I'd just like to thank everyone for all your help and suggestions, I've now got some excellent material to study.
Happy Ozbargaining :).

I'm pretty sure that your education provider will supply a list of reference books etc., that are to be used during the course.

Being a slow learner I wanted to get a head start, I also wanted to do well when I start the diploma.

Rich Dad, Poor Dad - Robert Kiyosaki

Good reading with any accounting book, there loads of youtube about it too.
There some accounting 101 in it too

    • Seriously?

Robert Kiyosaki is a get rich scam artist who sells useless information products.

They will tell you what books to get. When I did mine I literally had a pen and a calculator and some notepads…..I guess all replaced by a laptop now. But they either provide you the source material if online or give you a list of books you need.

Don't go studying anything you don't need to study just for funsies. Will just get confusing. Also learn your debits and credits and you'll be fine.

I search for the subject codes on StuDoco so i can get a head start to look at practice exams and slides people have uploaded. It should also be easy to look somewhere on your university website what textbooks you need. Also it should say somewhere what date from you can access your eLearning pages.

Also you should be able to find the email for your course coordinators. They'd probably be happy if you ask them how to prepare and what books they recommend. When does your course start?

@Savas: Yeah, just thought I'd get a head start as I'm a slow learner lol and better than watching tv or something when I'm not working.
