Optus Pre-Paid Nokia E71 Price Drop and other news

Anyone keen on Nokias still?

The Nokia E71 will be dropping down in price on Optus Pre-Paid tomorrow (20/4/11) from $199 to $129.
The big price drops seen this month are likely due to a new range of Pre-Paids on Optus that should come in starting next month.

Also, anyone holding out for the Sony Ericsson Arc shouldn't hold their breath. Won't be available on Optus/Virgin Post-Paid plans until after Easter at the earliest. Production problems are being blamed but I'm hearing the odd wisper that it failed Optus' network testing. May potentially be delayed indefinitely.

And if your thinking about picking up the Sony Ericsson X10… Do it now. It's on its last legs. Damn good phone for the plans that it's on ie: Virgin Big Cap 29 and Sony has confirmed it will get Android 2.3 update.

Keep an eye out for my posts… ill keep you up to date on anything Virgin Mobile and Optus that I can get my hands on.

And don't ask where I get my info from cause I'm not gonna tell :P

Til next time…

  • Virgin Mobile Big Cap 29 looks good on the face of it but remember you only get 200MB data / month and you get raped $2 / MB ($2000 / GB) if you go over the limit. Data doesn't roll over like the cap credit.

What's the use of only 200MB data on a 24 month plan with a phone like the X10? Most users would have to buy an extra data pack which would make the offering no better than most plans already out there with the likes of Voda/3/Optus etc.

    • agreed that data is pure cr@p but the excess charge is capped at $250 so at least its better than coughs some companies which charge $4000 a gig (i think)

  • The Nokia E71 although dated still is a pretty good phone. The battery goes up to 4 days without charging, and it's pretty compact as well.

  • Welcome to OzB and thanks for the info Phone Leakz!

  • On Optus website the E63 is still $129 and E71 is $199. It is now 20 April.

    Have Optus changed their mind.

  • Wow… just had a look at their prepaid mobiles today… they got the Iphone 3GS 8GB for $699? That is overprice isn't it? The Nokia E71 is still showing as $179.10 online and in store for $199
