I have already purchased and tested this light in the past, it's very impressive, here is the review I've done previously:

Great tint, super bright and awesome heat management

I don't usually like lights with batteries that run in series, but this light is definately an exception. some points of note:

  • the tint is a perfect neutral white, I think it's an XHP70 N4 3A emitter
  • this thing is BRIGHT! It's one of the brightest lights I own
  • fantastic heat management, barely gets hot. Steps down after 5 minutes but you can put straight back to turbo
  • you can use the tailcap to lockout the light for long term storage (no drain on the batteries at all)
  • when the light is off the electronic switch glows green, handy to find at night
  • 7 modes, low med high turbo, press and hold from off for moonlight, and double click for strobe and SOS

Overall: a well designed light, with pretty well spaced modes, from less than 1 lumen to 3000+ lumens. It’s size and weight might not be ideal for anyone, but having a light that can be so bright without draining the batteries quickly or getting hot in seconds. Also comes with a shoulder strap which is an added bonus as well as 18650 sleeves in case you'd rather use them to 26650's. A high quality light, and really bright, and beautiful tint.

It's 30% off at the moment, so save yourself $20 or so if you need a torch that throws a lot of light a long ass distance.

  • Anyone can compare to the convoy L6?

    • They are very similar lights in every way mate, honestly if I already owned an L6 I don’t think I’d need this light

      • S70S is a great light. I've also got L6 in 5C tint. You can choose 4 different tints with L6. S70S tends to be lower cost. The S70S has standby on the side switch whereas the L6 is on or off at the tail switch. Convoy have recently released L6 with XHP70.2 with SMO reflector your choice of tint. S70S and original L6 had OP reflector. S70S from Amazon offers better warranty than anything from Banggood, Gearbest or Ali Express.

At the end of the day, when I'm walking the dog with a torch (or walking a torch with the dog) I'm more likely to take the S70S.

  • where would i buy quality but cheap 26650 batteries and charger?
    thankyou

    • I think your best bet is banggood for getting batteries into Aus these days.

  • Great price. I bought the Emisar D4S recently for AUD 100, I have a feeling this may have been a better buy!

    • This light is cheaper and brighter, but much bigger, completely different lights mate

      • My Emisar D4S is much brighter and floodier, but this is awesome for a more focused beam.. at half the price

        • +1

D4S is like 45 USD why did you pay so much? As for brightness this should be brighter than the D4S and a much more usable beam pattern.

        • D4S might be a tad brighter on turn on, but due to it's size it can't maintain that brightness, this easily maintains and manages heat well, but like I said, different lights for different situations.

          • @Lionheart: It's not a tad brighter, it's significantly brighter - about 1100 Lumens (at least on paper). Yes different lights

            • @justcallmeboss: I have tested this light the S70 its around 4000 lumens and can sustain that for a while.
D4S may do a little more output for like 15-20 seconds but then its to hot. Even when using a 26650 15amps is a lot for the battery in the D4S. In theory it could do 6000 lumens but its held back by the single cell and size. People struggle to get 6000 lumens from the Q8 which is 4 cells using XPL and much bigger.

TK tested her XPL-HI D4S at 4000 lumens.

            • @justcallmeboss: I own them both mate, it's a negligible difference trust me, disregard what the numbers tell you

  • Nice find OP….bought 2 as i hope this will be good at my partners paddocks at night.
Can you recommend batteries and charger for this please.

    • I use an Xtar VC4 charger, they are all good and can take anything up to 32660 batteries.

As far as 26650 batteries go, I like the Keep Power 5200 mAh ones. Most 26650’s are good though, just avoid any with fire in the name when batteries are involved (eg Trustfire)

  • Nice, looking to get one of these, but do they fit 18650s? And do they compromise on performance if I use 18650?

    • It's really not hard to check the very first part of the description you know.

Powered by 2x18650 or 2x26650 3.7V batteries (Not Included).

      • With some 26650 torches they need unprotected 18650 cells, as the load is so high it causes the protection circuit to activate.

        • Comes with adaptors so you can also use 18650's.

Button top, flat top, protected, unprotected, doesn't matter

      • Sorry, was just more interested if there is a performance degradation if using 18650

        • Uhhhh yes and no lol

Output with good quality 18650s will be the same but you will lose some run time generally 18650s will be around 3000mah and the 26650s will be about 5000mah. Also you would be better of using higher drain 18650s this driver does about 5-6amps. Cells like the NCR18650s with protection top out around 4-5 amp mark.

When i first got mine a few years ago i ran 18650s in it for ages. I upgraded because i wanted more light longer and that's what the 26650s do seeing as it has more capacity it will maintain a higher internal voltage longer giving you more brightness longer.

If you are using the light for a few mins at a time no difference at all.

  • I'm getting a price of $79??

    • Did you apply the C5RAVOVU coupon code mate?

      • Woops I scrolled right past the coupon code too look and see if it was written in the text..doh! Cheers

        • ;-)

  • any deals for the vg15s / tk15s please ?
    which one is better ?

    • No deals at the moment mate, keep waiting though, they usually come up every 2-3 weeks. Which is better? Depends what you need it for, but they are both great pocketable lights

      • Thank you
