Feedback on Monitors for Dual Setup - Work at Home

It would be great if you could provide your thoughts on a basic home dual monitor setup. I would be using it for mainly working with Microsoft Office, some YouTube videos and video editing.

My budget would be $150-209 and don't really care about the brand as long as it works and looks nice. Currently I like the '$189 - Kogan 27" Full HD LED Monitor (1920 x 1080)' followed by '$149 - Kogan 24" Full HD IPS 75Hz Frameless Monitor (1920 × 1080)'. The Kogan ones seem to be cheaper than the others and look just as good. Would the a 24" or 27" be better in a dual monitor setup? Hoping that these Kogan or other ones below are suitable.

The options which I thought looked nice are:
$149 - Kogan 24" Full HD IPS 75Hz Frameless Monitor (1920 × 1080)

  • "The Kogan ones seem to be cheaper than the others and look just as good. "

the emphasis is look just as good. from photos.
the reality, i wont touch kogan branded products after few times bad experiences.

    • Can you explain what happened? Should I use another brand listed?

  • If you are doing work such as video editing I cannot emphasise how much better a higher resolution makes with the extra workspace you get on the desktop. So that is something to consider. I personally hate working on 1080p monitors because of how cramped it is.

They are unfortunately more expensive but you really should consider a 1440p monitor like this
trust me the extra $20 you pay will improve your life day to day as you get more space for your editing timeline, see more at once on websites and just generally feels spacier within windows.

    • Thanks! Kogan seems to be the only one with the 1440p in that price range. It is a bit over the price range but i'll think about it. It seems worth it in the long run!

The other brands seem to have smaller 1080p "Samsung 27" 16:9 1920x1080 Full HD FreeSync LED Monitor (LS27F350FHEXXY)"

      • You could go for a 1440p monitor as your main then match it with a cheaper 1080p side monitor. I know its not ideal to have mismatched monitors but it might work better for your budget.

  • Have look on ebay. We got 3x2 1080p LCD plus stand from day trader for ~$70 per LCD.

  • Get yourself a couple of these

If you're not gaming, then any monitor will be fine really. But these have magic Eye powers.

  • my home office set up has dual 22" AOC monitors (an E2270Sw & an E2260Sw).

2 days a week I telecommute from home and find them to be excellent monitors. far better than the crap I use in the office.

AOC are quite inexpensive and feedback for them seems to be quite positive.

  • I would definitely go for Kogan or AOC the Kogan 75hz looks good

  • +1

I have the 24" Samsung model. Having bought and used numerous monitors for personal & work (Samsung, LG, Phillips, BENQ), I like the picture on the Samsung the best as it feels less white/artificial with colours, and doesn't seem to strain my eyes so much.

I do agree with the above, the higher resolution you can go the better. But in saying that just make sure your computer is capable of running them without killing it.

And also remember to shop around - like the current 20% off at eBay. You can get the same Samsung 24" for $151.20 here as opposed to what shows as $189 at Kogan including shipping. Or the same Acer 27" for $189.20

    Good luck!
