Seeking Inputs for Laptop Monitor for Home/Office Use

Hello Friends,

I am looking for a Monitor (to be connected with laptop) for home use as I work from home 2-3 times a week. I believe monitor size (b/w 21 - 24"inches) would be suitable for my needs and was also hoping to use this monitor to connect it with the basic gaming consoles (like NES/SNES, cheap retro consoles etc.) for my son's entertainment.

I would really appreciate if anyone can share inputs on what sort of things must be considered while buying the latest TV monitor? Such as (but not limited to):

Full HD/LED
Refresh rate?
Specific ports (HDMI, VGA etc.)

Some of options I have explored so far:

Philips 21.5" Full HD 1920x1080 LED Monitor (223V5LHSB2)

LG 22" Full HD 1080p LED AMD FreeSync Monitor (22MK400H)

1920x1080 resolution is sufficient at that size.
Refresh rate is not important if you are not playing cutting edge games.
When you say 'regular gaming consoles' people will think PS4/Xbox which have HDMI connection. a SNES/retro consoles will not use HDMI but AV cables so you will need a convertor box as most modern monitors no longer offer these connections.

Any of those options would be suitable.

  Really appreciate your detailed inputs and thanks for pointing out the absence of AV port. By regular console, i meant non-high end but got your point. :)

What's your budget? 24" is generally the smallest I'd go for productivity and/or gaming.

    In very rough order of my personal preference:
    
    Asus VP247HA 24" LED LCD Gaming Computer Monitor FHD 1080P HDMI VGA Speaker VA for $147.25 with 5% off PUSH5 code; better for productivity, not as good for gaming.
    
    AOC M2470SWH 24" LED LCD Gaming Computer Monitor FHD Speaker VA 16:9 HDMI VGA for $147.25 with 5% off PUSH5 code; better for gaming, slightly not as good for productivity.
    
    AOC 24B1H 23" 24" LED LCD Gaming Computer Monitor FHD 1920x1080 VA 16:9 HDMI VGA for $151.05 with 5% off PUSH5 code; more expensive, better for gaming, but with unnecessary features for productivity.
    
    Special Mention:
    
    24" Allied Expanse LED FHD Gaming Desktop Monitor for $122.55 with 5% off PUSH5 code; unknown brand but sold by Techfast AU which have had lots of deals posted here to generally favourable reception - super cheap, has all the functionality you'd honestly really need.
    
    The last two don't have built-in speakers if you don't have separate speakers. Generally speakers built into monitors are… pretty bad though.

      HighAndDry, I like the AOC 24B1H with the thin bezel - but do you know any similar monitors which have a VESA mount? (For a dual monitor productivity setup)

        (Can't link eBay from mobile - Search eBay for it, can be had for $159, was slightly cheaper before. Recently slim side bezels, 100x100 vesa mounting holes.)
