Should I Get a Small or a Big Panini Press?

Good day everyone,

I am currently living in a shared apartment and would like to get a Panini Press. I intend to keep them away in the cupboard whenever I am not using it so my housemates would not use my Panini Press. For this purpose I think the smaller Breville Panini Press as it is more portable and lighter.

As for the bigger one, I have seen videos of people cooking bacon, eggs, and just making quick lunch/dinner with it. Since the cooking area is actually bigger it should be easier to work with for that purpose. The downside being it would be harder to put away because it's obviously heavier and bigger.

Is the cooking function a gimmick? Any of you actually use it on a regular basis? How's food cooked with Panini Press?

Cheers.

    Just get this: https://www.target.com.au/p/target-4-slice-sandwich-press-ta…

Cheap enough to not worry about too much, and large enough to cook the things you have in mind. Good luck!

They're not that expensive, would be easier if you go in together. Though keeping it clean is another issue…

Living in a shared household where you have to protect your items is not a good way to live, better to find respectable room mates

    • Would like to clarify, i live in a student apartment and we have new room mates coming in and out. It is like a roulette basically you never know who you are going to get.

  • from wiki

A panini (from the Italian panini [paˈniːni], meaning "small bread, bread rolls"

    small is the only way?

Fancy word for sandwich press. I think they are used interchangeably because panini press is what showed up when i searched sandwich press.

not to be confused with punani

  • I'm going to presume you are female and perhaps petite . Any young male, why worry about the weight of moving it around.

Get something small and light, that way if you have to, can easily move in and out of your room, if at some point it becomes neccessary. Keep this in mind when purchasing, you might get that terrible housemate that uses it, leaves it dirty, and happens all time… then you are going to want the option to easily transport into your room.

I don’t know, I work with some princesses grown men who complain if they’re asked to lift anything over 2kg.

For purposes of equality, if the smallest, most petite, weakest human would complain about it, grown men must also complain otherwise their lack of complaint might give them an unfair advantage in a working environment or the world in general.

All jokes aside, "small petite women" seem to fall on either extreme in my experience - either they'll use it to not lift a finger for anything especially if there are guys around, or they'll never ask for help for any physical job ever and be lifting, I kid you not one girl I know, almost their own bodyweight.

buy a small one for small paninis and a big one for big paninis….problem solved.

or put it in a pan and press it with a spatula……

Wish my life was this simpler and only have to worry about issues like this.

  • change your roomies if you cant even share a panini press or have a bigger heart

    • as mentioned above i live in a student apartment and people move in and out all the time. You never know who's coming in.

  • Is this some sort of meta-advertising for Panini Press?

    • does sound like it haha, though i went with Tefal in the end because it is ribbed and cheaper

      • And harder to clean (ribbed)

  • Go big or go home.
    Ours makes good hash browns/rosti.

i went with the bigger one instead. Decided to go with Tefal because they are ribbed too.

Thinking of making some breakfast hash and bacon with it

      • So you bought the big punanni press, and it's ribbed.

        This thread delivers.

    Big. Definitely

What about when you want to cook yourself 4 toasted sandwiches at once? ………………..or is that just me……..?

  • It's not about the size, it's about how you use it.
