anyone else find IGA very expensive compared to Woolies and Coles?
I know they're independent, but Franklins was independent and still either same priced or cheaper that Woolworths back in the time.
Now IGA all seems to be owned and run by grumpy old people that cracks the sh1ts if you want to return/exchange somethingWoolies and Coles have cut the guts out of the grocery market, so now the independents don't have the turnover to hire any staff so these "grumpy old people" as you put it, being the owners (usually ma and pa operations) have to work longer shifts just to keep the doors open, if we don't support these stores they will quickly disappear.
my local 'Supa' IGA deleted a bunch of stuff that Coles/Woolies don't stock - including Aurora Gelato, Golden North ice cream, Papa Giuseppe frozen pizzas (the original one's without the crappy pastry), fresh bread delivered daily by Routley's, among other things. And when they have something decent on special they usually run out within a few days.
Love the Mango & Macadamia and only buy when on sale. Thanks OP!
Its all about being price competitive , they seem to only be able to compete on specials sometimes . Frostman on the ball , I don't shop to provide charity to local businesses that can't compete .
