Horrible Warranty Experience with PC Byte - What Can I Do?

Update: I received the replacement on January 24th, 2019. I am glad that it is solved in the end. So I am going to continure to recommend Pc Byte.

I bought a Corsair K65 RGB Rapid Keyboard from the eBay Store of PC Byte in mid 2017. The keyboard was great for some time and then one key light completely stopped working in November 2018. ( It went dead and alive several times before complete death) I asked them for an RMA number and send the keyboard with extra protections and insurance. They received it and said they have sent it to their supplier and should be back in 2 weeks.

Now it is January and I have sent several mails along with a call to ask them when will my replacement go to me. They simply answered that they did not hear a word from their supplier.

What can I do? It looks like an endless wait. I actually bought quite a few Corsair products from them. If any of them goes wrong I may have another nightmare.

They replied my message on eBay recently saying that the product is old and they have to wait for stock. However the K65 RGB Rapid keyboard is still on sale on their eBay store and their website.

Edit: The keyboard was sent from the store to their supplier in late November. So I think it should be handled even if there is a Christmas period in December.

Its entirely possible with your timeline that their supplier got the keyboard towards then end of December and have been shut down until start of this week and haven't got to it yet + a backlog of rmas have built up in that time.

    • Wow that’s possible. That would be bad.

Why is it so bad? Most businesses came back to work on Monday. Many people are on holidays for another week though and will start properly on the 14th.

If you hear nothing by the end of next week then start making more of a fuss.

  • There's not much you can do except wait. The shop can't do much either as they haven't heard back from their supplier (who might not have heard back from Corsair).

Bit late now, but I had a good experience with Corsair's RMA warranty process. I went direct to their support site and raised a ticket. Their USA team replied and I had the replacement part (it was a radiator fan) within a week. Didn't need to send them the faulty fan either.

I've sent a high end $$$ mobo to a shop for RMA. Never got it back…

    • Never? Thats sounds too bad.

Your idea of horrible/nightmare service is a lot different to mine.

Also is a heavy use component like a keyboard covered by warranty beyond one year?

Well Corsair have 24 month warranty, same with Razer.

If you pay good money for a quality keyboard then I would expect it to last more than 1 year. If you buy a Officeworks $20 cheapie, no.

Mate it is the worst time of year for RMA processing.

Example is that I bought a gaming chair from a well known IT store on eBay, back in late December I messaged them for a RMA fix, this was the 21st, the RMA team had gone on holidays. They got back to me on the 3rd when the RMA staff were back. Took until the 8th for them to work out with the supplier what to do, and now they will send me a replacement part to fix the broken piece, but that will take at least 1 week for THEM to get the part to then send to me.

I don't blame them, it's just this time of year.

    • But you know when it can be done. I don’t.

      • Well I was lucky that the supplier had spare parts and could send them out to me.

Whereas my brother has sent a HDD away for warranty before, took 2 months with the manufacturer.

Geez OP.. it's just past the Christmas period. Not only do companies have shutdowns or skeleton staff, they'll also have a backlog once they come back. Patience…

    • Yes I will wait. That’s my only option…
