  • anyone know how long with the delivery from Amazon?

    • I get it the next day after it's shipped with prime free shipping (I'm about an hour from Melbourne)

  • +5

JBHIFI has it for the same price but you will have to wait to tomorrow to see if it stay $69 with pickup.

    • It’s annoying that with JB some preorders can be purchased with click and collect, some can’t.

      • you can now.

    • normally jb will keep the price for couple of days as launch price and then back to reglar price.

  • +3

it should be $69 at BigW too! That's what the staff member told me. I'll be using a Wish Gift Card from Cashrewards to buy it.

  • +2

If you have a Wii U you’re better off paying about $20-$30 for this. Unless portability is worth an extra $40-$50 to you.

    • +3

Not agreeing or disagreeing, but FYI you do get New Super Luigi U in the Switch edition.

      • +1

As well as some qol adjustments and a new character.

      • +3

You got it in the Wii U version too.

        • it's not included in the Wii U version, has to be bought as DLC

            • +1

@sss333: yeah figured he meant just the standard version

          • @Stew-y: It comes with some versions. Originally luigi was sold on a seperate disc. Then they released a disc with both of them on it.

            • -1

@J6: I made $150 of a perfect copy back in the day on eBay

              • -1

                @[Deactivated]: No you didn't.

                • @KLoNe: Yeah I did. Green case, immaculate condition. They're still selling for $60 now. You're also wrong about this game bring awful, it's one of the best Mario games I've ever played.

      • It comes with later editions of the Wii U version too. This usually goes for the same price as the standard edition these days, so about $20 or $30.

    • I got it free with Wind Waker HD.

    • -1

you know nobody has a Wii U.

  • +2

    $68 at Gamesmen

  • +3

That's a high price for a 7 year old game.
They didn't even add anything. "Deluxe" is a reference to being portable like the Gameboy game Super Mario Bros Deluxe.

    • +1

I thought it was more so referring to it as being the definitive version with New Super Luigi U included (Wii U DLC) - much like how Mario Kart 8 Deluxe includes the Wii U DLC and a couple extra things - whereas there was no Wii U DLC in Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, so it kept the original name when ported to Switch

      • The DLC comes packed with later editions of the Wii U version too. Nothing new here unless you want Toadette as a playable character for an easier difficulty.

    • Actually they did, there's some QoL changes along with a new playable character, as well as getting the DLC with it. Hence "Deluxe edition"

    • I don't see what age has to do with it, 90% of the core mechanics here have been pretty much the same for 30 years anyway.

obviously there's no reason to buy this again if you had it on Wii U, but we all know how well that thing sold…

  • You could price match with either JB, HN, etc. No need to pay RRP

    • This. With thanks to OP for the pricing heads-up, I just wandered into EB at Westfield Sydney on my way home from work last night and paid $69. In fact, the interaction went like this:

Me: Just want to grab a copy of New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, please.

Staff member: Sure mate. [Grabs one from the master shipping carton behind the counter]

Me: Good for a price m….

Staff member: Price match? Sure! You know JB has it for $69?

      🤣

  • Is this just the Mario and Luigi version from the Wii U packed together?

    • +1
      • A new character, and a few changes.
  • Ah, I guess that's the ebay value of my green cased super luigi u gone to buggery. I'd been intending to sell that thing for ages. I can't do 2d Mario any more, it's a love that is lost to me.

The need to make platformers complex is what has done it. The simple days of travelling to the right of the screen and timing your jumps was what I enjoyed.

(Metroidvanias being completely different and excluded from needing such simplicity)

    • This is still a pretty simple platformer I'm pretty sure

    • +1

I’d hold onto that green cased Super Luigi U; those are one of the rarest first party Wii U games; they’ll go for a mint in a few years time.

Do not buy this game. Awful.
Go play Super Mario World again or Super Mario 3Mix if you need your 2D fix.

    • +4

Awful because you're an adult playing a game that would have resonated with you more had you been younger?

    • +1

On the Contrary, this was a good game on the Wii U and I would recommend it to newcomers, I probably won't pick it up again since I have already played it though.

      • It's an amazing game on the Wii U. More fun than Mario odyssey in my opinion.

If you haven't played it it's a must own on Switch.

    • My kids are loving it, they can't get enough.

  • kids played this yesterday on the switch and they enjoyed it a lot (we don't have a Wii).
