Buying QFF Points. Is It Dodgy?

Hey Guys

I'm looking to buy some QFF points off the classifieds section of this forum. But im wondering, what happens if I send the seller the money and they just disappear?

Do scams like that happen on here? Or is it generally pretty safe? Is there anything I should be doing to protect myself during the transaction?

Thanks in advance

  • There's always an inherent risk in trading with random unknowns. Having said that, there is a couple of reputable people on here that buy/sell them that are dealt with quite frequently so would assume is a lower risk. See their history and feedback before attempting.

  • +8

There is also a risk that Qantas will null the trade and potentially cancel your membership.

  • i am also interested in this as i have about 100,000 points but wont be able to use them for flights for a few years as i have 3 young kids and i heard they dissapear if you dont earn any points over a 12 month period?

    • If you don't earn any points or redeem them for something they will disappear. I think it's actually 18 months but you'll need to check your statement. The warnings on points disappearing will be on your statement. Do you have another way of earning QFF points or have any small items you want to redeem from the Qantas store? Both of these things will show activity on your account and lengthen the time before the points disappear.

    • Are they for sale??

  • of course not Dodgy. there are new ads of people selling qff each week here and they never re-posted them means the demand is HUGE.

  • Do research who you're dealing with. I lost $45 to some guy who was supposedly selling Netflix vouchers, several others lost their $. I don't recommend PayPal Family & Friends for this reason, however it's probably a sellers market.

  • Qantas has been cracking down on buying/selling of points recently. Mentioned on AusBT and AFF as well.

If you sell all your points and don't mind if Qantas closes your QFF account then there really is no risk.

    • I disagree with that policy. It's my points I should be able to gift it to some strangers.

      • It's their points program so unfortunately they can do what they like and it is in the terms and conditions that you can't sell / buy points.

      • Then why did you join up as a member?
