Update Old Deal VS Post New Deal

When do I post a new deal rather than update an old one?

Example 1:

An extra 20% off a sale I have previously posted. New or Update?

Example 2:

I have posted a sale, and then find an item within the sale that is particularly good. New or Update?

  • If it's the same price/deal then you have to wait 1 month. Otherwise update the old one and if it was previously successful you can report it to the mods and they might make it highlighted on the front page.

  • If it's a different offer then post a new deal. In your example, what is the other offer?

    • sorry i am finding those guidelines confusing… brain may be foggy

In example 1, I have posted an up to 80% off sale, and now there is an extra 20% off.

        • thank you.

        • what do i do in example 2?

          • @bargain huntress: Really need actual examples to give a proper answer.

Don't stress or overthink it. We'll sort it out.

          • +1

@bargain huntress: For example 2, going by the eBay deals, it generally seems a case of the x% off is posted and then followed up with several deals relating to that coupon.

In saying that, it could be argued that is required for the eBay deals, whereas a smaller store it may be better to combine. Add to that, if it's just a single store, it's generally expected to add a few examples of good deals, not just a 20% off offer (ie. 20% off the posted store may be more than 0% off at an everyday cheaper store).

            • @tomsco: That's not quite correct. The reason I didn't want to give an answer is because of time factors.

              Duplicate Guidelines:

The original deal is a list of multiple items and the item is not contained in the title of the original deal. Related forum discussion.

              • Doesn't matter what store.
              • If you post 20% off at x store, and then make another post a few minutes, hours later with x product from x store, then we'd just say to combine it in the original deal.
              • If you post 20% off at x store, and then make another post a couple days later with x product from x store, then it would be fine but good to reference a link to the original post in the description.
              • Putting Extra 20% off in title is perfectly fine. While examples are recommended it isn't required.

So I'll just say, post and we'll sort it out. The most important thing is for people to post their deals, everything else we can fix after. We don't want people to have to complete a degree to figure out how to post.

              • @neil: thanks very much neil (LOL @ completing a degree! i do feel a bit overwhelmed trying to work out the rules)
