I have one in our bedroom, great soundbar.

  • Seems like a great deal. Good reviews to

Pity as I'm looking for a deal on a sound base as this won't sit under my TV stand.

  • This or one with a wireless sub?

It really depends on your needs. Most of the models anywhere near this price the wireless subwoofers are very lacking in bass and some you wouldn't even know they are there.

For it's size and price this model sounds amazing, There is also the bigger brother the Media4.

  • I don't get soundbars. They're limited in their upgradeability, give average sound at best, will never work properly with a surround sound setup…

Except in those rare circumstances where space is limited or one can't be bothered with a receiver setup, you're almost always better off getting a cheapo receiver with decent bookshelves and then adding onto it as time goes by/deals come up.

It's what I did and now I have a 5.1.2 atmos setup with ceiling speakers and a fully google home controlled theater system using a harmony media hub. It's tight, sounds awesome and fully customized. All that and I only spent $1200 over 3 years to build it up.

As you said space is the key though. I used to have a $10k audio set up and now it's a sound bar and a sub woofer. I now don't even have space for the subwoofer (kids) in a good place so I'm looking at a sound base.

      You obviously don't have kids… 😀

Satellite speakers and subwoofers aren't compatible with small children.
