Looking for an Actually Quiet Gaming Keyboard

I'm on the hunt for a quiet keyboard but the manufacturers idea of 'silent' or 'quiet' is laughable at best. I get there will always be noise, especially when the finger hits the key, I'm more looking for keys that are quiet when you are pressing down.

Requirements
- Quiet
- Anti-ghosting
- Wired

Currently looking at the Cougar Vantar as a possibility but haven't had a chance to see on in person yet.
Any ideas/recommendations would be appreciated.

  • I had a play around with a Ducky Keyboard which was quiet. Really nice mechanical feedback on the keys without the noise. It's the only one I've had a play with though. Would recommend for you to have a look if you can find it.

    • Thanks QW3RTY, will see what I can find out about it.
Any idea how quiet it is compared to a scissor keyboard? I've played with some of the cherry silent keyboards that were noticeably louder than cheap keyboards.

  • +1

I've noticed at my local JB Hi Fi, where they sell the keyboards, they have a little demo (5 - 6 keys), each with a different switch for you to try out what works for you.

There was one that is pretty quiet from memory.

Not suggesting you buy from JB, but good way to trial what the switches sound like.

  • You've got the right idea. Low profile laptop style keyboards will definitely be the quietest, the Vantar looks worth checking out for you.

  • if you want mechanical, you wont meet your quiet requirement, even if u go Cherry Red or Brown Switches.

Try a Mem-chanical keyboard for a quieter board with a mechancial key stroke "feel"

  • Just to let you know the Corsair Keyboard Silent Switches are not silent!!! Have one myself and they are quite clicky!
