  • Is the bunnings price beat only valid in Perth?

    • Likely yes. Elsewhere they would add the freight charges.

    • It doesn't state in Bunnings T&C's that it's location-specific. But good-luck arguing it with your local store.

    • $799 is Perth price. $897 is the rest of their warehouse location

      • Here's their policy - https://www.bunnings.com.au/price-policy. Doesn't mention that it has to be located in the same town/suburb/city in order to be price matched.

        • "It applies where the other retailer’s final price, inclusive of delivery, taxes, fees and charges, is lower than our price on the day that the price guarantee is requested."

add the freight where from Perth to the eastern states could vary from $50 - $150.

    • Not sure Armadale counts as Perth…

  • Hi all,
I’ve heard good things about MHI for air cons. Just wondering if anyone can comment on service costs - apparently the parts for this brand are significantly more expensive than others? Any thoughts appreciated.

I've got this model installed in my office at work about a year ago (room is about 5m x 5m or so). No issues so far, icy cold when needed and fairly quiet. It's turned on 5 days a week for about 10-11 hours per day (or even longer).
We do have an AC service contractor who gives it a service on a monthly basis (cleans the filters etc).

Have heard from fridgy's who have installed this unit in multiple unit complexes that it's now their go-to brand to use. Good price, easy to install, works well. Heard from one guy that out of 100 installs, only one failed/had trouble. Going to try and get my local Bunnings to price match today.

    • Iv had a mhi air con (small 5kw) for the past 3-4 years, no issues till now

Installed 2x SRK25ZJ, 1x SRK35ZJ in our apartment back in 2014 for $4.8k total (fully licensed, wall mounted) - can confirm zero issues and full reliability thus far. Friends installed the 7.5kw version with no issues either. Bonus is these are great A/C's but are even better and more efficient heaters during the cold winters. 100% would buy again.

  • Anyone know how much the cheapest installer would charge in Perth?

    • Also wouldnt mind knowing a rough installation cost for this in Perth if anyone has any experience with an installer recently?

    • Around $400-500, depends also on whether you need the outdoor unit wall mounted and back to back with indoor unit.

      • I would double check that.

The cheapest installation on back-to-back would be $1000. And thats a gumtree special. They call in a sparkie to wire it up first at a cost of around $300. Then the plumber comes in, mounts the units, runs the plumbing and then evacs.

Anything less than that, I would ask whether the work is certified.

        • Wow that's expensive, I thought I over paid. Mine cost $700 (Melbourne)

Maybe different rates in Perth but still shouldn't cost more than $700, I also found installer from gumtree, single story house back to back

          • @[Deactivated]: Did both the electrician and gas fitter provide certificates and written installation warranties ? If so, then that's a bargain.

I would also keep those certificates handy because you will get an inspector roll up and ask to see them.

          • @[Deactivated]: So expensive! I got a 7kw system installed back-to-back for $600 (single story). 2x quotes identical price.
This is in a regional area so maybe it's more expensive in the city. Brother is a refrigeration mechanic and licensed electrician and reckons that if people are charging $1000 for a back to back then he's been under charging for years.

Yeh you paid $300 too much I reckon, I got a 7kw MHI installed for $1000k but that included removal and brickup of old wall aircon which was about $350-400. Always get a guy that is both aircon and electrical certified otherwise you will end up paying more.

I just msged the same guy and asked about a 3.5kw system and he said $550.

          • @KingJuf: Ah penny drops. Mine was done properly. My 5.5kw installation included a full circuit rewire with its own circuit breaker, an electrical isolator, full pipe covers, matching ductwork and all certificates provided. Metro area.

Bunnings even quotes $695 for a basic simple install. But thats just a hook price. Be prepared to pay more.

You get what you pay for I suppose.

@nuno: Everything that you have mentioned was included in my install including certifications with warranty. Received cashback from MHI as well.

  • Anything for 7kw or above?

  • Can confirm my local Bunnings (Taree) price matched and applied 10% for a total price of $719.10 for this unit. Took all of 2mins to do.

    • Could you post a receipt for it thank you!

      • Sent you a PM

        • Could you also PM me please.

          • @R3XNebular: Can’t PM you - “The specified recipient does not accept new conversations.“

        • Could I possibly get a PM for the receipt as well please? Thank you!

    • Hi mate, Could I get a copy of your receipt? Bunnings PMQ didn't want to know about it and were completely unhelpful.

      • +1

Huh. Drive down to Taree and grab one from there - they were awesome and had no problems at all with price matching it. Can't PM you either.
        Here's the link: https://tinyurl.com/Bunnings35AC

        • You're a legend, I'm heading that way tomorrow so hopefully Taree still have some in stock. PMQ has the worst customer service I've experienced anywhere.

PS messaging is turned off by default, it's on now.

        • Came up short at Taree as well. They looked up the price and it was now $999.

  • Thanks op, you have made my parents very happy

  • Bunnings is selling cheaper than the discounter at Browns Plains QLD… $794 wont price match.
