  • Can anyone comment on the quality of the toilet paper?

    • +11

it's not bad. softer than typical recycled stuff but not as soft as, say, quilted.

I am fussy and happy to use it.

    • +5

I normally need 4-5 sheets per wipe using Kleenex without breaking the sheets, while I only need 2 sheets per wipe with this.

In term of softness, it is not as soft and silky as Quilton, but it is near.

      Depend how you define quality.

    • +1

Ordered about $60 worth of paper towels and tissue boxes as well. Pretty happy with it all and delivery was great.

      • I found the toilet paper is great (have been buying it for the last year or so, and will keep doing so), but the paper towel is horrible - from memory it was just super thin and not very effective.

    • Quality is good. Agree with @p1owz0r comment.

    • +6

I have it at the office. Sheets are thin and easy to be pierced by fingers ending up in the arsehole. Have to wash them with the soap after.
      Wouldn't recommend.

      • +33

I'd be reassessing your technique if that's happening mate.
Sounds like you're coming it too hard and fast brother

        • +17

Not to mention you should be hitting the soap and water regardless.

          • @zappy32: You’ve got to remember that all the signs in retail store bathrooms only ever state “staff” need to wash their hands…never any mention of customers…..ew

      • +1

^^^^ This is the top comment. Totally agree, stick to the Aldi 3 ply, this stuff is not good. If the cause floats your boat donate, but the product isn’t great in my experience.

      • Yep…worst toilet paper i've ever used.

    • +2

this would have to be one of the worst quality toilet papers made. Seriously it's terrible stuff, you need 2-3 times as much compared to a quality brand. Forget it….

      • +2

I agree. And my wife bought a massive box of it which took ages to get through. Never again.

        • +5

If it was so bad you had to use three times as much, then you should have gone through it pretty quickly.

      • +3

The basic stuff is bad but the premium bamboo is good, just pricey. Its not really a way to save money, so consider it helping a charity as they apparently use 50% of their profits to help build sanitation in third world.

    • It's triple-ply, but about the same thickness as other 2-ply.
My main issue is tearing it - you need to carefully tear along the perforations, otherwise it tears down the sheet instead of across.
I'll be cancelling my subscription because my young kids aren't dexterous enough to do that.

    • +3

Recommend this. We've been using for a year or so. Its not white, its a more recycled/grey colour. Quality is fine but not comparable to the big brands in terms of softness - it does the job, its recycled, and part of the profits go to a good cause. The benefits outweigh that it isn't super premium. Never tried the premium bamboo.

Rolls are very long and at the start of a roll it sometimes tears off earlier than you want from weight of the roll, so you need to grab some more. Also at start of the roll you have to carefully pull the paper apart where it's glued, then unroll a full revolution as the glue goes through 2 layers - you get used to that too.

Initially didn't like how each roll was wrapped, but it avoids having plastic wrapping around whole lot, and the spare rolls gives nice colour to the bathroom.

You'll get an email a few days before your next lot are due to arrive, with a link that lets you delay it. We use way less than expected so have delayed several times, lasts ages.

Are you sure this is not a pure satire site? 🤔

    • +5

Website doesn’t read like one. Looks pretty genuine to me, and for a good cause.

    • +6

They're a known recycled toilet paper brand. Generally these companies try to inject some humour in to their marketing, something like recycled toilet paper kind of needs it.

    • +2

Ozbargainers, including moi, bought from here at least twice before (do search). It's legit as crap.

  • +4

It’s worth paying the extra to get the premium bamboo.

  • +1

Basically $2 off when you factor in $8 shipping outside of major metro areas.

    • Free shipping above $30.

      • Only in major metro areas; I'm in Launceston. I even tried adding 2 x 48 packs. It's $8 delivery per box.
        https://au.whogivesacrap.org/pages/detailed-shipping-informa…
"Shipping to your area will cost $8 per package* on orders over $30. On orders under $30, shipping will cost $16 (We're working on it!)

*What's a package? Glad you asked. We pay shipping for each individual package we send out. If you order an individual box of toilet paper, that's a package. If you add a box of tissues, we can strap that to the box of toilet paper, and it still counts as one package. At a certain point, though, the order becomes too large to ship as one package, and we have to ship items separately. If you order a 48 pack of toilet paper and a box each of tissues and paper towels, for example, weve got to ship this as two packages. Confusing, we know, but if you have any questions please email us at [email protected]!

        • Just as an FYI I’m in Launceston also, I ended up ordering a box of the premium and the trial box and it arrived in 2 days (shipped from Hobart). The premium toilet paper doesn’t seem bad and holds together well. The paper towel in the sample looks good but the tissues are a bit rough compared to Kleenex.

          • @Pixel Spam: Yep, I ordered a box just after I posted that comment. It arrived an hour ago. Pretty impressive

      • $26 delivery for (not so) rural NSW :(

  • +1

thanks , you saved my ass

  • The quality is fine, it's thick and soft enough, though it has an I'm recycled vibe. I'd consider buying it but I don't like that each roll is individually wrapped (I'm lazy) and I don't like the pun name.

  • -1

My credit card was blocked last year when I paid out to whogivesacrap.

  • +1

They used this were I used to work.
Annoying to have to open each individual pack, and it seems expensive.
One roll in each set is wrapped in red and says "for emergency use only" which made me laugh.
Other than that, just seems expensive.

  • NVM they send an email for mange subscriptions after placing the order.

  • +1

The bamboo TP is good but you pay a premium for it. We switched from the lower priced product to the bamboo as I found it just seemed to fall apart too easy. They may have upped their game with the lower end product by now, not sure. We are not buying this brand to save money though, we just like their business model.

They also had some delivery issues a few months ago with our last order and it took quite a few weeks to arrive, ended up having to buy a few packs of regular TP from supermarket in meantime.

  • I ordered the 48 rolls with the $10 off code and added the free trial.

I want to cancel the recurring subscription, but not sure how. When I check my subscription it says next delivery is 28th Jan 2019. Not sure if I cancel that I am cancelling the whole order or just the recurring subscription. Maybe I'll wait until I have toilet paper in hand before cancelling

  • WHY would you want a recurring subscription on any home goods? Dear me. What a hassle it would be if all consumables were this way. Buying it when required is easier than having to manage automatic crap.

  • +1

It's great stuff, I use it at home and it does the job fine.

Only one criticism, the subscription frequencies are crazy. My last box has lasted me 9 months. YMMV

    • +1

      Your Movements May Vary ?

  • +1

I got a pop up with code TP4EVA for the same discount.

  • I like the cause, but the standard TP is pretty crap. Way too thin and rough.

  • Just pay extra for the premium stuff. It's heaps good and still cheaper than Quilton and for a good cause.

  • +1

Regular orderer of the standard 100% recycled stuff here and I recommend it.

No idea how it compares to super-luxury brands but I like that it's the only brand of paper out there that uses 100% post-consumer waste unlike the "100% recycled" supermarket brands that don't.

At the end of the day, you're using this product to wipe faeces off your anus. I can't understand why anyone would need to do that with products derived from virgin wood pulp.

  • -3

lol at anyone who uses toilet paper without using wet wipes. Disgusting.

You wouldn't clean yourself with dry paper so why wipe without something being wet

At least most Asian countries have the washer which is what Australia should adopt.

    • +1

You haven't heard of fatbergs? Wet wipes are history.

      • -3

        another media brainwashed peasant.

  • Got it! Thanks OP

  • Anyone know how long delivery usually takes? I expected mine to turn up by now. Have been holding off buying from supermarket.

    • Mine came in a couple of days. Hope you haven't been holding off taking a dump

      • Ha! No went out and bought some.

        Customer service is pretty bad.

  • Did anyone order the free trial box + a box of bamboo rolls and not receive the trial box? I am currently trying to get my order and was told today that they don't send out the trial box with bamboo rolls.

Also apparently the trial boxes are out of stock.
