I'm wondering if anyone has experience with them, or can suggest an alternative. I like the idea of natural materials, as opposed to plastic crap, but am I being brain washed? Are these actually good??
Also, if anyone knows where to find one of these cheaper that would be much appreciated.

Checkout reverse osmosis, they are the best filtration system by far, the one you linked is garbage.

Received this as a housewarming gift and really like it - water tastes great and keeps cool. Upgrade from the two (benchtop + fridge) Brita jugs we had previously that had to be constantly refilled.

Go Vita used to include these purifiers as part of their Super Tuesday sale every month - it used to be 20% off rrp but my local store soon excluded it after I mentioned it to friends and family and they were suddenly overrun with multiple orders one tuesday! Try your luck at your local store tho as you never know.
What actually matters there is this:

That's $46 on ebay.
There's also some value in letting the water sit there, so the chloride can sublimate (and that the tank it's sitting in is not made of—and leeching!—plastic). But you can probably find another for less than $250!
You could buy a three stage water filter for that money.
And it wouldn't be this gigantic vase of water which screams "marketing works!" taking up precious space on a benchtop that eventually no one is going to fill.
