I was wondering how long new members can only comment 5 times in 24 hrs. I have had a search in the forums but can't find anything about it. Only reason I ask is because I wanted to edit a comment I made (put wrong persons name as a used) and can't change it. Is there a new members guide anywhere that I haven't found? Thanks in advance for any help.

You can't edit a comment if someone has replied to it.

It was actually https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/389925 . I was supposed to write that I used hm not the.piemaker thats all :)
I've fixed it up now. Just report the comment next time as mentioned below.

Only for the first 24 hours. However keep in mind that users on an overseas IP can have further/other restrictions.

See FAQ here. As mentioned you cannot edit a comment if it was made over 60 minutes ago or if it has been replied to. You can report that comment though and we can delete or edit it as appropriate (report link is under the comment).

Hold on you're not the real scotty. I think the reason it's in place is to reduce spam? That's usually how it goes on a lot of websites.
