Replacement AC Adapter for HP Compaq 620 - Connector Pin Too Large

One of my old laptop's is a HP Compaq 620 , it's ac adapter stopped working. I purchased a cheap ac adapter from Laptops Plus which was meant to be suitable for the 620 but it didn't work.

I contacted HP who said the equivalent is HP 693711-001 I purchased it at a total cost with shipping for $109 and the connector pin is too large for the laptop. I spoke to HP who said they weren't sure and will try and get someone to contact me. When using their website and entering the laptop's Serial number it confirms they have it listed as the replacement adapter for that model even though it doesn't fit.

In the meantime I was wondering if anyone could assist me in finding a suitable replacement or could point me in some useful direction?

If you have a Jaycar nearby, they sell power adapters with changeable heads and usually able to adjust the Volts/current. check out the website if you can.

You can buy power adaptors that come with a variety of heads. Might be worth looking. Something like this, but look first if you can.

Else purchase multiple laptop charger:

If your laptop has an integrated graphics card:

Be careful when purchasing the charger as both the 620 and n620c have the same dimension but a different fitting.

So some resellers might have a n620c charger relabeled as 620 charger.

Just remember purchasing a multiple laptop charger does not guarantee that a head will fit.

This is especially true if your laptop is old/new or is a generic brand laptop.

    Are you positive that the laptop's charger is broken? Otherwise the laptop's DC power jack might be faulty.
