Teeth Whitening Kits - Do They Work?

I've given up the cigarettes and while they aren't too bad, it would be nice to have really white teeth. The thing is, I don't want to buy something that destroys my gums or enamel! Has anyone tried a product that really works? Or are there any types/brands to stay away from? I'm referring more to the treatment kits than the whitening toothpaste.

I'd go to the dentist first then ask them
As MOST teeth marketing paste are marketing schemes

  • To be honest i've found using oral-b (the green one) for 2 weeks lightens your teeth a few shades.

Obviously, diet, coffee, booze etc can all affect the colour of your teeth

  • I think the quality vary with prices but pretty temporary. I would prefer to go for bleaching at the dentists

    • Yeh thanks guys. I think I'll have bite the bullet and invest in professional treatment…dental that is.

      • BITE the bullet (LOL)

  • Check out the group buying deals, they have professional teach whitening treatments quite often.

We put them under the 'Health and Beauty' categories.

I once use 'take home' bleach treatments from the dentist but found my teeth got sensitive and weakened! Professional with those UV light things is the way to go imo.

  • tooth whitening kits only work after a long period of time.. this may be due to heredity, diet and habits.. cigarettes aren't the only things that can discolor teeth.. like DAVO1111 coffee and booze also contribute.. good that you'll invest.. safest and most reliable way..

  • Here's a cheap alternative to whiten your teeth:

  • I got a kit at the dentist, with mouth plates made and I don't think it really worked at all… paid over $600 and my health insurance paid the other $600!

  • 600AUD, thats a lot. I would get the proper bleaching from dentists for that price

    • Yeah, you could have gotten safer treatments at a dentist or teeth whitening specialist at that price.

  • I have just recently read that home teeth whitening treatment is addictive too and it does not produce much results
