  • I wouldn't call a 1.33% saving ($10) off the next closest vendor a "bargain".

    • Eh, less margin for low prices on a newer product, but yes it isn't that much cheaper than elsewhere (unless you're picking up in Vic)

  • i'd rather get an xbox and a ps3 this thing costs more than my entire pc

Fair call. However, remember the graphics on an Xbox and a PS3 are about 4 generations behind this. You always have to pay up to be on the cutting edge.

I just can't justify buying a brand new video card unless you have a lot of money lying around. Yes, yes bleeding edge tech, I get it. But you're much better off buying an older card for less than half the price (I bought a 570GTX last week and it's brilliant) or if you really must have the latest thing at least give it month - you'll save yourself a hundred dollars.

  • But we just dont need threads about opinions ;)

That's your choice, that's fine. It's mine too in fact. But the only question here is whether this is a good deal? If its only $10, not really, but keep in mind that PCCG support is excellent*

*Other than one PCCG worker who, when I complained that a mouse mat I purchased was flexible (clearly advertised as solid base) said to me "its solid when put on a hard surface". I wish I was kidding, I hope that guy got sacked.

    • LOL - that's freakin hilarious. I've dealt with PCCG a lot and never had an issue with their support, products or shipping + handling.

This is still a good bargain for the card regardless of what the cheapest next available option is IMO, however there have been a few 6990 and GTX 590 deals on here lately that are on par with this.

Anyone had much of a dealing with that VTX3D brand? Any decent quality? I assume it'd be on par with other cheap brands such as Palit or Powercolor.. Probably just build to reference design and don't worry about changing the VRM or board layout in any way

      • It is quite funny. Excluding the fact I paid $25 for a mousemat specifically so I could use it with the laptop on my couch…

He did say I could return it if the packaging was undamaged. Unfortunately a little bit of cardboard had pulled off at the corner, so I gave up.

It was the most ridiculous service I've ever had. However, on other occasions, PCCG support has been brilliant. I still do business there. I just feel like they owe me $20 :) (sold the damn thing for $5)

      • VTX3D is from the same people as Powercolor. I haven't heard anything particularly bad about them, they tend to have some of the cheapest reference design cards available.

  • Kinda like that Netplus deal for HIS $759.
Seems like this is the current price of lowest tier brand AMD 6990 now.
And wow it dropped price fast!

BTW in regards to VTX3D, I've heard its actually Powercolor behind this and their warranty sucks like black hole.

    • Warranties that are worth a d*mn in this industry are hard to come by. I've even had well reputed brands like EVGA bury their head in the sand.

  • I can't believe there are 4GB graphics cards. It's insane. I am a Mac man but I am shocked that they only support 1GB cards.

    • +1

Its actually 2 2GB video cards.
      This card is dual GPUs.
