3G USB Modem

Hi, I'm looking for a Virgin USB modem to use on my laptop on the go.
The cheapest price I've seen is on the Virgin website for $50 for the modem + some data.
I'm not interested in data, just a modem. Any will do as long I can use my Virgin sim in it.

    You could look on eBay for some used modems.

    You can also try some generic modems from Deal Extreme (they are carrier unlocked) but be aware DX takes ages to ship.

    Also make sure it supports the 2100MHz network band in the specs list. If not, it is not a 3G modem.

    Just looked at the virgin deal. 4GB included isnt that bad. You could always sell the data to someone? perhaps a transfer?

    Also this deal is $25 and can allegedly be unlocked (according to google). No responsibility etc, but it might be worth researching

    davo, i had a look at the Three modem and unlocking it? looks complicated and needs research. haven't got time for that now, but if i did have to time i would definitely look into it. maybe later
    the 4gb only lasts for 30 days so it isn't that big of a deal to me. its better than nothing though :)

      Yeah, that's the same model as the one in this deal, so it can be unlocked using Davo's link above. It's easy as entering the IMEI found on the body of the unit, get the code, and entering it in the program when you stick your dongle with your virgin SIM in your computer. That's pretty much it.
