  Having put one foot in the Android camp a few years back I am so confused why Apple insist on not letting you buy app's from any source. I'm on my iMac and I can't get these apps for installation later. On the Android system I can purchase an App on any platform and it can install to a targeted device painlessly. I hope Apple shift their system to Google's one day. I've been a long term Apple user (Since 1991), and this system makes no sense in today's online market system.

    It's for security purposes. When you install something from an 'unofficial' source, there's always a possibility of the app having code that does things that it didn't tell you about (including but not limited to cryptocurrency mining using your computer's resources). Google allows you to use them but it's your responsibility. Apple don't want you to as it would compromise their tightly integrated Apple Pay and other systems. For the same reason, The Mac OS X doesn't allow automatic updates for these apps through the App Store. You have to manually update or the app should provide an automated update system when it's service is running.
