Lower Energy Prices for People on Standing Offers

According to this article, energy prices will be reduced.

As Ozbargainers, do you think it's fair that these people get lower prices for doing nothing?

Yes, they should get lower prices for doing nothing.

No, they should keep paying higher prices to subsidise us Ozbargainers.

This question is so loaded it made the BRW rich list.

  • This guy thinks that the most vulnerable people in society should be ripped off by private corporations while he gets ripped off a little bit less after wasting hours of his life on "customer service".

  • "Retailers have been taking advantage of these customers’ loyalty by massively increasing their electricity prices."

You mean just like insurance companies do?

As for shopping around, the dopey QLD government made another stupid rule up here that if you leave Ergon for another retailer than you cannot go back to Ergon later so shopping around for prices isn't really worth it. Not sure if that rule has changed or not.

  • The article is the usual propaganda where the "journalist" just paraphrases what the government says in a press release so mugs can read it.

  • Speaking of energy retailers, if you're in Victoria and you haven't used the Victorian Energy Compare website recently, this offer is still valid to get $50 when you fill in the form. You don't even need to switch providers to be eligible.

  • Im currently on 25% of usage with origin energy. just wondering would i still be eligible for the (extra) discount-

"10 per cent off the usage component for Origin's concession standing offer customers."

if, so how does it work? is it automatically applied, or will origin contact me?

    Thanks
