Maison Camp / Beach Trolley - $134.98 with Free Shipping @ Kathmandu

70

We've been looking at this trolley for a while, but the price tag was a bit higher than we wanted to pay - sure it is normally $260, which represents a nearly 50% discount.
It is very well reviewed on Kathmandu's website as well.

You might find it in store in the larger branches as well (we picked ours up in Chatswood, Sydney)

Edit: Thumbnail is showing the red variant, but think it's only the blue option that's available

Yes, we looked at that one a few times, but did wonder what the build quality would be like - didn't look quite as sturdy.

However. we did go to get one of the K-Mart ones in the end (for $50, hard to go wrong really), but they were out of stock in store, which is how we found out about this one

Edit: Comparing specs - the load capacity of the K-Mart one is 50kg vs 100kg, and looks like the Kathmandu one is a little bigger, though was hard to compare directly. When it was $50 vs $260, it was a bit of a no-brainer - but for $135 the Kathmandu ones was the better option for us :)

      • I eyed this Kathmandu one for a long time (years) but couldn't justify the price even when discounted to around $160, ended up getting a discounted cart from SCA similar to the Kmart one. I maybe would have bitten for $135. Fact is the Kmart/SCA versions are fine for most jobs but the Kathmandu one is just that little bit nicer in finish and a bit bigger. It also folds into itself differently and stores as a rectangular prism rather than flattened. Worth the extra $85? That's subjective, but they are different.

  • I got Kmart one and it is good

  • Another vote for the kmart one.
Have definitely put more than 50kg in it and haven't had any issues with it.

Anyone with a Costco membership you can get an identical one for $70. Been using mine for 2 years now and it's great

    • Just bought one from Costco Moorabbin store for $79.99. Looks like it's well constructed with aluminium all round.

What do people use these for?

We've found the wheels a bit small for loading it up for beach trips, the wheels just drag through the sand.
Picnics though, and lugging stuff from our shed to the house it is really handy. We load ours up with picnic stuff and then lift it into the back of the car, so setting up when we get to the spot is quick and easy.

We used them for Easter show to drag all our stuff around large area. Kids can put their drinks and other paraphernalia

  • Another vote for the kmart one.

I bought mine from bunnings $49. Works a charm but no brakes

For ayone who doesn’t need to carry a lot of stuff to the beach. I would recommend the Aldi cart/chair. Goes on sale around spring every year.
When not used to carry it can be used as a chair. We usually fit kids boards, umbrella, large bucket with toys and small/medium eski. All secured with bungee cords.

  • I am after aluminium construction, but seem not available in Australia :(

    • Collapsible Wagon Cart - Black $79 at Catch.com.au

Bought it, turn out not aluminium, returned it.

  • BCF had them on sale for $49. Not sure if they are still on sale. It is great. Has an 80kg load capacity.

We just ordered this one. The wheel are little small(fractionally) but a lot wider, so it should be easier to pull on sand. It was $100.

We got the one from SCA when it was on sale for $50 from memory. Similar to the Kmart one but much bigger plastic tyres which I’d imagine makes it easier to drag across the sand. Very handy to lug all the beach equipment to and from the car, highly recommended

  • Why don't they make them with brakes? So annoying!

There is one in mitre10 cost 37$
    90(L)x50(W)x107(H)cm (including handle).
    80kg weight rating.
    Not sure about Quality.

    • Anyone tried this before?

      • Anyway, I am going to get one and give it a try tomorrow.

  • I bought one off Ebay for $50 a few years back that folds flat. As per above comments, these are more utility/garden carts than for beach as the wheels are small just drag along the sand. That being said I use them for the beach and they work great for carrying stuff from car or beach unit to the beach in one trip: loose toys, boogie boards, seats and shelter even if it is a drag

  • Great for collecting samples of beached whale.

    … for scientific purposes.

    • Avoid it, plastic joints break first time use, steel not aluminium.
