Cheap Way to Send Power Bank to Manufacturer for Replacement

Hey guys, so I contacted my Power Bank manufacturer and they said they will replace my Power Bank under warranty but I have to pay for postage of my faulty power bank to them. My Power Bank cost $27 but postage is like $8.50 for a prepaid satchel.

1) Can you guys tell me how much to send a package if I used my own satchel.
It only weights 241g but the dimensions of my power bank is exceeding the letter pricing (2cm), do you think I should risk it for $5 or send a satchel for $8.50.

2) any other options please suggest, pretty erxpensive to send a power bank where shipping fee is 1/3 of the cost of my Power Bank

  • Where is the manufacturer?

The postage costs that you've mentioned above are still less than paying $27 for a new powerbank!

And I defiantly wouldn't send it as a letter!

    • At Rydalmere, I thought about this to myself and i’ve let my savings side prevail 8.5 is still cheaper than buying a new one

      Definitely*

Did you pay by paypal? I think they pay for returns if you did (t&cs of course).
    https://www.paypal.com/au/webapps/mpp/returns

    • I bought a power bank from Kogan from a different brand but they told me they ran out of stocks so they offer me this instead. I did buy through PayPal but the payment is for the other item, I could try. Thanks for mentioning that.

      • The manufacture is in rydalmere which is not that far but 8.5 for a small power bank that barely weights anything is quite ridiculous

      • Why not ask Kogan to solve it?

    • How do you use it like where do y’all u click in the transaction history to get a refund on return shipping

      • I don't remember the last time I did it, but I think I logged into Paypal, looked into the transaction history in there and next to the items I've paid for it says something about returns.

  • Regardless of weight, once an item is over 20mm in thickness it must be sent at the parcel rate

    • This is because the equipment that sends letters is 20mm wide ;) you will end up with a lost parcel the other way. That said op should go into local po and ask how much to ship it

Send it discharged so it weighs less :-)

    • Really, I assume it’s a joke

Not really answering your question, but if you power bank is under warranty, they should be responsible for return shipping

  • Where did you purchase it from?

  • Can you guys tell me how much to send a package if I used my own satchel

Auspost website has all the information you seek, if you want to look up the prices yourself.

  • Is the power bank any good? I've bought my share of crappy ones in desperate times when travelling and they barely last after a few cycles…

    • use me for your power

Is the power bank any good?

      No, he's doing a warranty return because it's working perfectly… 😂😂

      • Ok, let me rephrase. Is it worth getting a new one/fixed one?

        • Nah don’t think it’s a fix but they did say exchange for a new one

  • Does www.sendle.com still have the promo that first parcel sent is free?

  • The manufacturer or retailer should arrange pick up or reimbursement if you pay.

    Double check on ACCC website

    • I checked that, told them but they say in the warranty card the consumer is responsible for shipping faulty item to them.
Even contacted fair trading, which clearly say consumer is responsible for return shipping but will have it refunded by the company

Just get reimbursed then. They can't contract out of their legal obligations
