I have had the 128 for 3 years no problems. I paid about the same price that the 256 model is now ,time to get another. Why is the 128 gig $81.88 lol.

    • I paid about $40 for a few years, used occasionally, still good.

Mine died a while ago, kinda works well enough to get stuff off it, if I plug it half way in and wiggle it round a bit…. but only on Tuesday, and when I stand on one foot etc.

  • Slider is tight.

      Better tight than loose .

      • Got me there. I always have to add some lubricant to this USB stick just to make it useable.

@paulaus +1 for not writing 'then' instead

Thanks OP snagged a 128GB one.

  • How do these compare to the Sandisk Extreme USB 3.0?

    • +3

      Extreme is a lot faster.

  • I have one of the PNY Turbo 256GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive from a few of years ago and its still going strong. Very fast read and write speeds at 80MB/s+ compared to other joke USB3 devices that write data at a pathetically slow speed less than USB2 =P

Recent reviews on amazon seem worrying though so perhaps recently manufactured drives may have issues? The old ones seemed very good though.

I got a Turbo 128GB from Amazon three years ago and it's shit. It's so slow that I stopped using it.

      • Agree, it works but it's by far the worst. Slow as, once it's over half full forget speed.
GET A BETTER BRAND, usually just a few dollars more.

  • Worth getting usb 3.1 over 3.0?

    • USB 3.0 is capable of data transfer speeds up to 5Gbps.

That's probably fast enough web the USB drive is limited to 200MB/sec

    • +3

In theory USB 3.1 doubles the transfer speed of 3.0 to 10 Gbps, but I doubt these flash drives are fast enough to be bottle-necked by the slower interface.

  • I bought one the 256GB version and it died pretty quickly so I would confirm the recent scathing reviews of that model.

I also have the 128GB version and it's still going fine.

My 128gb died after 2 yeara of light use.

    Go :)

    • problem with small drives is they are hot af when you try to remove them soon after some reading/writing

  • +2

I bought one a while ago. Notoriously unreliable, died soon after. A lot of other people had same issue. I would avoid at all costs, not worth the cheap price

    • As per my post above, i had issues as well, it lasted a few years of very light use, given the size though, its pretty risky, I was wondering if they fixed it in newer versions, given the high failure rate.

id be interested to know if anyone else who had a failure has had it work once they half pull it out of the USB port

i did end up grabbing the Elite-X in hopes it would be OK.

Mine died too I would strongly advise against buying this one

  • SanDisk 32GB CZ430 Ultra is showing up $13 on Umart

  • What is the best USB drive for additional system storage on my shield?
