m3 is crap too, i've had a couple of m3's and they struggle with everyday applications.
It's fine with Chrome in my everyday use

Asking for a friend. Why not buy a tablet (mipad or iPad)? Surface doesn't even have a built in mail application, you'd have to purchase Office separately.

I actually do not like the MS Surface line and I would probably never buy one, but saying Surface does not have built in mail application is not factual. Any Windows 10 PC has Windows Mail built in. It is far from great and I actually don't like it but it IS there and it (mostly) works.
Also don't compare iPad to this please. This has a full desktop operating system, able to run anything that Windows can run. iPad can only run iOS stuff (tablet operating system).
Comparing to MacOS would be a closer match.
