Windows 7 Pro Upgrade (for tertiary students) -- How to get it for $49 instead of the usual $119

For those intending to purchase a copy of Windows 7 off the Its Not Cheating program, please note that there are actually several links that link to slightly different versions of the webpage.

Depending on which link you use, the price of Win7 Pro Upgrade can be anything from $49.95 to $119.00 — a massive $69 difference!

If you have been following this link from this bargain, the price indicated is $119

I suggest purchasing from either of these 2 links instead:

The "Student Specific Deals" wiki page has been updated with the new link.

    lol

  • Cheers, this will come in handy

  • btw, do the prices at the 2 links you've provided also fluctuate throughout the year?

    • Not sure. But I have a feeling that Microsoft may have permanently dropped it down to $49.95, since all new PC's nowadays come with Windows 7 (therefore less sales).

There are also rumours that Win 8 might be coming around late this year, according to Toms Hardware

      • they haven't even released RC. IIRC windows 7 took 2 years to be released.
IMO mid-late 2012…21st dec conspiracies anyone

        • Toms' Hardware says Beta, not RC.

        • fair enough…didn't actually read the link (imaidiot)

Certainly hope public beta comes along sometime soon!
Although Unity(ubuntu) looking good as well

  • The excellent $49.95 price doesn't cover most students, eg, secondary students - my son is in year 12.

Microsoft decided to target those who - on average - will have more dollars to spend in the future.

if you really want to get it at the $49.95 price, I'll be more than happy to share my uni email.

I dunno if they send you the key via email or if it is just displayed on the screen. I already have windows 7(legit) on my two comp so not buying anyways.

Might be a safety issue but if anyone has bought before please do tell!

      EDIT:

Product keys will be provided on the purchase confirmation page and sent to the user's eligible educational institution email address entered into the Promotion web site during the purchase process. Product keys will be available for 1 install for a desktop or a mobile device.

      • THANKS very much for those very generous thoughts spawnpoint. I was about to buy it for his PC a few weeks ago when I thought we'd get it for $49.95. Since then we have bought a notebook with Windows 7 which satisfies our needs for now. He'll need a PC with it on but we can probably wait now until he gets his own uni email next year. But thanks again.

      • I might take you up on that, I'll see how soon the build comes together tho :)
