Finally the 8GB/128GB model is back down to $698 from the RRP of $839 ($141 off). Just picked it up earlier today after plenty of research and consideration. I couldn't get a lower price on the Signature Type Cover and JB HiFi had no interest dropping below their discount price of $758.

Is the $498 one good? Need one to replace 1st generation Samsung Tab S
64GB eMMC will be slow, better off with ssd when using full blown windows.
Thanks, will give this one a miss then
Still a lot faster than tab s!
Also can install Android x86 on it if you don't care about camera / rotation sensor
If you're just after a tablet experience, might be worth looking at the 2018 iPad on sale. I'm not a fan of the ecosystem, but the value is pretty hard to beat.
I'm not a big fan of apple, I really liked the 1st generation samsung tab s but the battery is almost dead and unusable.
Like I said, not a fan either, but it's incredible value if you can get for under $400. Just install GBoard on it, and you'll have a pretty similar experience.
@jasswolf: im waiting on a last gen ipad pro sale to replace my 1st gen samsung tab s
@dekaiser: That already happened back in March: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/367159
Consider the regular iPad, or step up to the m3 Surface Pro, or even the i5 Surface Pro 6. None of them have the 120 Hz screen, but there is extremely little use for that on a tablet, even with the A12X and its GPU.
@jasswolf: yeah missed the boat on that one
I just got a 64gb model and super happy with it. For me the extra hdd or ram isn't worth the 40% premium as I'm simply using the go as a secondary device for web browsing and basic computing (essentially an alternative to an ipad).
If you expect it to be your primary device, I'd say the screen is too small for this purpose.
Didn't realise this wasn't being bundled with the type cover at this price. This device is the devil, and this price is way too basic for what it is.
Sacrifice that extra 4GB of RAM and get yourself a processor that can actually punch its way out of wet paper bag: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/427855
Microsoft Surface Pro core M3 comes with free keyboard and cover $797
the pen and mouse are sold separatelyWhere did I say either of these deals included a pen or mouse?
The reason for my neg of this deal is very straight forward: it's bad value compared the sales prices on the Surface Pro line.
Neg this deal when you find a better Surface Go price, not when you find a different product more suited to your needs.
Good find, I've been waiting for this to drop back down too. Would be even happier if the LTE model drops down a bunch.
