Very over priced domains.
$22 for a .com.au domain, $20 for .com domain, that's 150% margin at least.I'm with Zuver $10.50 for my .com.au. This isn't even close even with the discount.
Is that for two years or one year?
That $10.50 at Zuver is for one year only auDA opened up the .au name space to 1 year up to 5 year registrations earlier this year the two year maximum minimum is gone.
From the quick look I gave the website it looks like they're using one of Go Daddy's reseller/wholesale platforms.
@tonyduffe: ah, too bad I can't register for a .com.au without a legit business running……
So then we should buy direct from Go Daddy skipping the middleman? Or are there places?
@Zachary: In my opinion I'd be keeping away from GoDaddy altogether. Much better providers out there for domain name registration and definitely for hosting.
@tonyduffe: ….like Dynadot and Namecheap?
@Zachary: I'm thinking more along the lines VentraIP in Australia for overseas companies I would take a look at Porkbun, NameSilo, Hover.
Dynadot, Namecheap, Uniregistry and name.com I will use them from time to time if they've got a first year discount that's really really good but I normally exit by transferring away after the first year you've also got a watch out for certain catches with these registrars.
However the majority of my domain names are with Synergy Wholesale I have at least one domain name with all the others except for Namecheap and Uniregistry who I also use significantly in the past but don't have anything there currently, I also don't have anything at VentraIP but that's because they own Synergy Wholesale and anything I register there gets moved over to synergy pretty quickly as it's free and easy to do.
Unless you're chasing multiple new gTLDs there's really no need to have accounts with more than one or two registrar's.
@tonyduffe: OH didn't know about those….might check them out….
you've also got a watch out for certain catches with these registrars
What sort of catches….?
Unless you're chasing multiple new gTLDs there's really no need to have accounts with more than one or two registrar's.
What about hunting for the best price? Doesn't that suffice as a reason to have more than one?
@tonyduffe: Well Synergy Wholesale is an interesting one, as it requires me to sign up for them to show me the domain pricing…….
I signed up with fake details just to get a glimpse of their pricing and nothing more…..hopefully it gets approved…lol
That's why they are perceptive tech … Lolz
Agreed! Seems very very expensive especially for a brand i have never heard of
