I have a gear fit 2 which I love, however this model is waterproof and can be used for swimming/hydrotherapy
FYI - I've had this watch for just over a year. Had two repairs done under warranty due to water damage. I followed all instructions for use and care of the watch. After repair #2, I spoke with Samsung, and they said that the IP rating is only for fresh water, NOT salt or chlorine. But at the same time, they advertise the watch for use in things like swimming pools, and even have a Speedo app to count laps. I can't think of a swimming pool that is fresh water!
I even spoke to a Samsung rep in JB Hi-Fi a couple of weeks ago, and he admitted that an IP68 watch really isn't for swimming. While 10-30 metres might sound like plenty, that is when the watch is still. Moving your arm around in a pool exerts more force. Should be at least 5 ATM (50 metres). Something like the new Fitbit Charge 3 (comparable to Gear Fit 2 Pro). I just bought one of these for my wife. So far so good with waterproofing, but it's only been a couple of weeks.
My watch just started failing again the other day, and this time, I hadn't even submerged it in water at all! It's now out of the warranty period. I could fight Samsung, and I would have a legitimate case, but I'm not sure if I will bother.
Other than the waterproofing issue, it is a great watch though, which is a shame for me.

I have a Gearfit 2 which is 21 months old. In the last week the battery has stopped charging unless it's in developer mode and the screen has started flickering. From what I've read since it's started causing issues I don't think the Gearfit 2 at least is built for longevity. Hopefully the Pro is different

purchased very early in a deal, payment went through, received a confirmation email, then the next day on my way to david jones in chadstone shopping centre another email came with order cancelled. no explantions. took me another 20 mins in the phone queue to find out they ran out of stock ! they probably had 3 watches for sale. very poor business practices from david jones
