Ring Doorbell 2 $229 (Normally $329) + $5 Shipping @ Ring.com - ($234 Price Matched @ The Good Guys)

200

$100 off the Ring Doorbell 2.

I went to JB, HN, OW…. none of them would match this price. OW gave a bunch of excuses because its a US store. I argued that it's not since they sell in AUD direct via auspost…. whatever.

TGG came through with the goods and price matched it at $234 for me "with manager approval". Sales guy said they make $3 at that price haha. TGG receipt: https://imgur.com/a/9pvMLaU

Ring Doorbell 2 is my pick due its removable battery and 1080p, NV, motion detection etc. Can also hard wire it if you want to. So pretty versatile and easy to keep running.

I don't think the Pro or Elite are worth the extra coin for a simple video doorbell.

Just call officeworks customer service at 1300 633 423
They would price beat and ship it for you. I think free shipping in metropolitan areas.

    • Tried that. Lady said no can do and then refused to budge because “it’s not an .com.au site”….. which it doesn’t say anything about on their price match page. I suspect only coz their buy price is higher than $229. HN guy told me they buy for $245 haha.

I think the first version for $79 at amazon about 6 months ago was a better deal. 720p is good enough.

    • Yeah but I like the removable battery and 1080 personally. I don’t intend on hard wiring mine.

What's stopping someone ripping this off the front of your house and stealing it?

    • Its got motion detection and you’d see who’s doing it? Haha

Probably nothing in reality but nobody has stolen the hose in my front garden yet :)

    • Superglue

From ring.com website - "If your Ring Doorbell is stolen, please contact us with a police report and we will replace it free of charge."

    • I believe I read it’s covered by their thief warranty..

      • I can imagine how excited the jacks are going to be in filling a report for your doorbell.

I went to JB, HN, OW…. none of them would match this price.

So why not just buy from the place offering a GREAT price in the first place, rather than rewarding a sale to someones everyday price that is $100+ extra?

you spent at a guess a few hours fighting with these places to save a extra $5….. woohoo

sometimes you don't have to wait (for shipping) if you price matched somewhere else.

      • and sometimes you have to waste 2 hours of your live too…. Not sure what your point is.

But yay the OP rewarded some store for never offering a discount. What will happen when all the stores people use to price match againt go belly up as no one buys from them….. GASP pay full price. You should reward the place giving the best price up front, not some lazy 'price match' store.

Well near me there’s a super store mega thingi centre with HN, OW, TGG and JB within 100m. So it was about 20 mins all up.

I didn’t want to wait for shipping from the US.

Edit: BTW it’s the manufacturer offering the sale so I am still buying from them.

      • +1

yeah I doubt you did all that in 20 mins, including getting a managers approval for the final price override. You did 4 stores in 20 mins, hahaha yeah no.

  • Does this work with the Google home hub smart display? Like when it rings does it show up on there like it would on the phone

    • +1

Works with Alexa. Not sure about GH sorry.

      • Looks like I'm getting a echo show. Thank you

        • Yeah I have been looking into Gome Hub Compatibility for various camera equipped devices. Sadly the Ring kit isnt compatible. At present all it can do is tell me the name of my device, it's battery level, and start a recording. That's it. Nothing else. Pretty useless.

If you are already invested in a google home (I already have half a dozen google home devices and chromecast on every tv in the house), sadly Nest is the only product that gives the full smart doorbell experience with Google home/chromecast. Can be bought from Kogan for about $330. And it needs to be wired in by an electrician.

If you arent already invested into Google Home, then Ring supposedly works very well with Alexa.

      • Ring are now owned by Amazon. Good luck getting GH compatibility for video.

    • Good spot. Hope you can make it work!

      • Confirmed it works, but 10% off the price including shipping ($234) which comes down to $210.56.

        • Nice

  • Does anyone have one of these? Are they any good? Reviews seem to say its pretty crap.

    • I have the version 1 and it’s great

    • Installed it today. Works fine. Even had somebody ring my doorbell today when I was out and I could see who it was. Haha

What do the reviews say are the crap bits?

      • Mainly delays in notifications and network speed required. What sort of internet connection are you on?

        • Nbn 50 :)

  • just started a chat with HN, price match right away, no issue at all. Collect from my local HN this afternoon. Happy Shopping :)

    • May I know the name of the agent you have spoken to? Thanks

      • the agent name is Effat

  • Took it to Bunnings. No issue getting them to apply their 10% price beat offer on it. Walked out with it $210.56 poorer.

    • I use the HN egiftcard purchased from Amex offer, further 20% off :)

      • Doesnt it work out to be something like 14% off?

        • It’s a previous Amex offer, like spend 500 get 100 back

    • Which Bunnings? The one in Keysborough have me a hard time about needing it to be a physical store. Then had to call them up to price match. And no 10% off cos the systems been updated. Which was impressively fast

      • Bunnings Ashfield in NSW. The first guy thought they could only do it against physical stores too, but his manager knew better. It's also listed on their website that they can do it against Australian online stores.

  • Anyone knows the RING bell can simultaneously ring multiple phones at the same time ? Assume using the same login credential on 3 different phones, so that any family members can pick up if someone is calling ? not just one person pick all the "doorbell" ? Thanks.

    • No need to use same login credentials on different phones. You can invite your family members via app and they can use, manage and monitor the app like you do.

  • Was going to get one of these but the Xiaomi video doorbell has just come out last month. It;s only around the $70 mark and will probs drop further, and you get the bell speaker included too. This one you have the buy the bell part separately.

    • +1

Xiaomi is more comparable to ring doorbell 1 as it’s onlu 720 and have no live view mode. I’ve read few review on the Xiaomi doorbell, not very impressive

Most places have now dropped to $229. The power of the price match!

Price beat at Bunnings for even less.

  • Officeworks price matched the Ring Pro from Ring.com. Up on the coast this week and stopped at OW Newcastle. https://ibb.co/mG5vHfj
