Wi-Fi + free cellular connectivity uses the same wireless signals that mobile phones use but with no monthly fees or commitments—Amazon pays for cellular connectivity. Using wireless connectivity to make other services available, such as wireless delivery of personal documents, may require an additional charge. For more information, see the Connectivity and Availability section of the Amazon Device Terms of Use.

The link doesn't actually find that page though.. I found this link though which gives some info:

Also here is link to the map of coverage around the world this gives you (on your Kindle for purchasing and downloading books):

Most pertinent: While connected to 3G, you can only access Amazon.com or Wikipedia in the Experimental Web Browser. Unrestricted web access is available by connecting your Kindle to a Wi-Fi connection.

For Kindle owners - does Amazon Australian-bought Kindle allow purchase of foreign ebooks (particularly, Japanese)?

  • Any idea how long the deal goes for?
