There is a sale going on for 4K sticks in US: 2 for around $83 AUD. I have ordered them using shopmate. That is going to be extra $40 for shipping. Still worth it I guess
How do they compare to the Mi Box or Vodafone TV Box
Get the VodafoneTV for a few dollars more.
Not if you only need it for prime tv. There is no decent apk to sideload at the moment, all the ones i tried they had problems.
I have prime working on my mi box doesn't work with VPN connected for some reason though.
I’ve got the APK installed on my Vodafone TV and Mibox 3. It works on both but I find it a bit slow to start up the app. What are the problems you are having?
Video Stuttering and Audio not in sync, some videos are almost perfect some are unwatchable regardless of their resolution. I have tried the APKs suggested by OP in this other thread: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/415277
And I tried the last Android TV Prime app with no luck.
What APK have you installed? I would like to try it.
Thanks i wanted to get the echo 3rd gen.
Are there any plans for Amazon to release 4K sticks in Australia?
Doesn't look like it, similar to FireTV they have had a great chance to do it, but they like to keep things locked to certain regions
Good luck getting 4k streaming in Australia I just got nbn 100mbps but they can only supply 26 Mbps.
are you sure you didnt just sign up for the 25 mb plan
There's a massive regulatory crackdown on overstating speeds. I thought a lot of them had sorted that out. You should go back to your service provider.
I can stream 4K on my Sony TV with Netflix 4K no issues with my ADSL 2+ that is like 16-18mbps
It's the 100mbps they just can't supply it they said tpg also said they will refund me and no penalty if I disconnect but the speed will be the same with any provider I'm on the gold coast metro most of the coast business only have, 4 Mbps
tpg is notorious for over selling. telstra has the lowest contention ratio's meaning out of the bulk bandwidth bought you have to share it with the lowest amount of people ( numbers are unknown but people estimate it to be about 5-10 people for testra vs the 30-40 that tpg will use) also aussie broadband is also pretty good if you can get them in your area ( as far as i know they are only in a few areas in qld but planning to expand further soon).
Thanks for the info Kiato.
Fire stick or chrome cast?
Good question I have a Chromecast but now have an echo dot also
Its still a basic, just a wasted excuse for a FireTV unforunately
