Beyonwiz DP-P2 PVR 500GB $299 + shipping $10. COTD - REFURBISHED stock. 12-month COTD warranty.

90

Not a bad price as a brand new one is about $500-$550 in stores. Usual $9.95 shipping applies. Hopefully a refurb is like an Apple refurb product in that they are 'as new' but usually DOA returns that have been made good.

  • condition : refurbed

If you live in Perth your average repair time is 5 - 6 wks….considering these units have faulted already you would have to love Beyonwiz

  • Has anyone had experience with Refurbished products from Beyonwiz? How well are they done?

  • $309 is a bargain (provided there are no issues. either way, there's a 12 month warranty)

    • How are COTD with warranty's? Do you have to pay for delivery back to them?

  • +1

I brought the refurbished DP-Lite that COTD had a couple of weeks ago for $269 plus delivery. To my surprise they sent me the DP-Lite i model and the unit looks new. Have had the unit now for a week and very happy with it. What I like about these refurbished Beyonwiz deals from COTD is the 12 months warranty, other websites only offer 3 months.

  • I bought two of these new and both failed, I would avoid refurbs. My two cents.

  • I have had this unit for two years and it's the best purchase I ever made. Great PVR, no issues at all.

    • I gotta admit I think I just was unlucky but at the time wasn't willing to bet $600+ on that guess so didnt ask for a 3rd unit. These have a very good rep so I guess they cant be bad, but my comment was a warning not a negative against the products abilities

    • I have a DP-P2 and a DP-P1.
DP-P2 not as bullet proof as the DP-P1 but I love it - had a minor issue with the power button.
Great for the wife and kids also. Really easy to use

  • Beyonwiz…sounds like the brand of a dollar company. For that money you can probably get something with a brand name like topfield or something

  • records up to 1080i. I find recordings at the resolution are jagged (unclear). I reckon 720p is better, correct?

Would buy this if it was 1080p.

Depends on what your recording? I guess It's not that bad, I'm just a perfectionist.

  • Price is fine, but is it actually a P2? The product specs are for a FVL1500.
"Today's Catch" page doesn't list model, only says HD PVR + 500gb HDD.
    Be careful out there, people!

    • +1

They have sold the FVL model before I would say they just havent put the right image and specs, as it clearly said P2 in a few different spots.

  • We've had a bad run with COTD with these beyonwiz.

    We bought the p1. ($350)

It died, we sent it back (they paid for shipping). They agreed it was dead and sent another, but they sent me the dp-lite. Now I have to muck around and send it back AGAIN.

REALLY angry with COTD at the moment.

  • I've got a DP-P1 and a DP-P2, but not sure I would recommend Beyonwiz any more. Firmware updates used to be regular and offered great improvements but nowday's updates are pretty rare and more likely to introduce bugs than fixes (I got burnt bad by firmware 1.05.334 and WizFX to the tune of about 30 recordings lost - transferred from DP-P1 using WizFX and all corrupt - http://www.beyonwiz.com.au/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=5881&postd…).

I get the feeling that there is better and better value for money than Beyonwiz at the moment, refurbished or not. But re OP, I have no experience with refurbished so can't help with that part of the question.

    • Also bought a P2 new. Topfield has a far heathier scene for custom firmware. Had my time again I'd be split between Topfield and MythTV (HTPC).

  • Would of received my yesterday but think the parcel post person didnt want to get out of the car because of the rain. So far so good, very easy to setup and use.
