    Dunno why it's so cheap
Possibly because it's total crap? I love battlefield type games and SW and absolutely hated this.

    • +1

waiting for the day when there's another star wars game with a decent sp

      • +3

The SP in this game is decent for $5 to be honest.

    • +4

Genuine question - when did you play this?

I found the first one pretty crap and didn't get this until the last sale due to the lootbox fiasco, but I've been surprised by how fun it is. Criticisms from launch seem irrelevant now.

      • The game is SUPER fun! I got it in the last $10 sale and have found it really enjoyable

  • +15

I paid $10 and felt the single player campaign was worth it

    • +5

Thanks the comment I was looking for.

    • IS the campaign the same as the one from the original, just with better graphics or is it much more different?

      • +3

It's new. The story is great and they introduce a new, (game only), character who rocks.

  • +4

Should be this price for all platforms

  • +1

Not working for me, geographical restrictions?

    • From the link..

"Note: Currently, this item is available only to customers located in the United States."

    • Could be I didn't realize that a digital code would require a vpn but I'll edit it just in case.

      • +1

It doesn't need a VPN, you just need to create another account with a USA address.

        • My bad, changed it again :P

        • Don't even need to get a new account. You can change your country in account settings with no effect on anything except what you can purchase.

    • +1

You'll need an american address in your account to purchase it.

  • +4

Its worth the $6 just for the campaign even if you dont touch the rest.

    • I've never seen a game with such dire metacritic reviews:
      https://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/star-wars-battlefront-ii
It has an average of 1.0 user score!

      • +4

The criticism of the game is to go with multiplayer issues though. Very valid criticisms however and I wouldn't have paid more than $10 myself.

If just playing it for the single player campaign then it's not a bad way to spend $6.30.

      • +1

There was a lootbox fiasco at launch which is where the review bombs came from.

The game is in a much better place now and worth giving a go if you are into Star Wars.

  • -2

Someone give us a fake USA address so I can buy this

    • +1

You could just type that in google and you'll find it..

    • +5

      Just use Amazon's address

Not sure if they charge tax for digital goods but if they do, pick some tax free address like Oregon

    • Google a hotel.. ie the Hilton.. L.A.

    • +2
      • +2

I use a hotel in Portland Oregon :)

    • 123 Fake Street
      Beverly Hills, 90210, CA

  • +1

got one! billed $6.53 by ANZ. Totally worth it at this price.

    • +7

$6.72 by Macquarie bank. I'm spewing.

      • +1

        You got ripped mate

    • +1

Don't ANZ slug you with a separate currency conversion fee later?

NAB does that. I used ING which do charge one but then credit the account the cost of the fee making it redundant. With ING it costed me $6.34.

      • Used my card many times in New Zealand months ago and I did not get any other fees, just a higher conversion rate.

        • +1

Maybe because the NZ in ANZ stands for New Zealand?

          • +2

@Trantor: Good point! While we're at it, i'll make sure to bring an AMEX card in the US and HSBC card in Hong Kong to save myself fees on those countries.

    • $6.25 by Bankwest.

  • +5

I had no issues getting one. $6.34 through ING.

For the address just use a hotel as mentioned above. I used Las Vegas Resort and Casino. My stay was quite enjoyable.

    • +1

You should write up a google review too!

  • Thanks!

  • +3

Honestly battlefail 2 has improved significantly.
The progression system has been completely reworked, lootboxes are only for cosmetic purposes and the (free) DLC battle for geonosis is heaps of fun!

    • +1

It's just a shame the matchmaking is crap, and you can never find a match of what you feel like playing. Agree it's a good game now… if only you could play what you've paid for.

      At ~$6 though it's a steal.

      • Why doesn’t every high player number game just have a server browser? It really helps for places like Aus who struggle with online player bases after like a month into a games release

  • +3

Just wanted to add a second comment sorry:

Just be aware for those with bad internet that this is a 73GB download.
It does say that it is playable at 17%, which would be around 12.5GB.

Should be fine for those with NBN but for those who don't just be aware it could take a while.

    • +1

I'll wait til I get the NBN next year before I attempt to download then.

      • +1

The early play thing is just being able to run around shooting a few things in a hanger. No campaign and no MP until 100% unfortunately. Edit: At least that was the experience on XB1X when it hit EA Access last week. Maybe different for PC.

  • +3

might be going cheap everywhere soon now it just got added to the EA access vault.

    • This exactly.

For AUD $6 it's available for a month to play. Given it seems that the single player campaign is 6-7 hours long that seems fine.

Not to mention all the other stuff is available in their vault.

  • Campaign was all I was interested in, but I heard it was bad. You play as an imperial, which is what I've wanted to do since forever, but then as I suspected she ends up defecting to the Rebellion which is a total cop out. EA has no balls. BF1 I thought they'd at least let you play as one of the Central Powers factions (which unlike Axis were not clear bad guys) but they copped out of that too.

    Can anyone comment?

At this price it seems worth it anyway, but I also have principles and I don't like giving money to EA. Them and a couple of other publishers.

    • Definitely not one of the best SP games I've played. The formula seems to be recognisable character + multiplayer map = mission.

    • if you want play as an Imperial, get the old Tie Fighter game from places like GOG or Steam, tons of fun!

      • I would kill for a remake of that game. Or X-wing. Or a new game in the series.

But EA is the only one that's allowed to do it, and they have absolutely no interest in doing so.

I would also love a new Rogue Squadron game. And that canceled Star Wars 1313 game, and the canceled/reworked game Amy Hennig and Visceral were working on.

But that's the nature of one publisher being given the exclusive license. Everyone loses.

        • +1

earlier in the year I have seen some youtube vids where some people are remaking/updating the original X Wing game with modern graphics, which looks pretty sweet.

Not sure what has became of it though.

I have heard some rumours about 1313 is being resurrected, not sure how true it is.

but yeah, sad state for Star Wars games when EA has the rights to it.

          edit: found it

  • Anyone in Aus playing multiplayer on this?
I'd love to revisit slight nostalgia from the old games.

    • played it on PS4, it's not bad.
just the gfx alone makes it worth it.
it takes so long to get upgraded weapons and equipment

      • Sweet, should look great 1440p on my PC then!

        • It's a struggle on PC, I'd venture there are a lot more console chumps playing this.

It's pretty frustrating, you'll spend a lot of time waiting and looking at empty lobbies. I've given up, I don't have a lot of time to play these days, and I'm not wasting it on anything without a server browser.

    • +1

There are Australian server(s) for Galactic assault every night.

Sometimes you have to search multiple times if the only server going is full though, just requires bit of patience.

  • Uh oh….

I got the same message in my browser but received the code straight away. Now downloading the game :)

      • Yeah same, just freaked out due to using the US address ;)

  • Damn bought this from EB Games for $19 but got a nice case to look at I guess as a consolation prize.

    $6 is a steal.

  • +1

Is this game worth getting for just playing online or are the Aussie servers pretty dead?

    • +3

Aussie Servers lol, the playerbase is soo bad it matchmakes me with people in the states and obviously comes with a 250+ plus ping !!

      • +2

That's the case with all MP games in Aust except the most popular ones.

        • Yeah, I like playing fighters which are pretty niche outside of Asia, so I'm forced to stick with the highest populated games such as Tekken. Strange that something like a Star Wars would struggle with player numbers as its a widely loved franchise, however I guess the game did have a pretty shaky start with the loot box controversies.

          • @DecoAus: EA published games just don't have legs.

Both Titanfall games had server populations that plummeted fast. On PC, they removed some game modes in order to consolidate players into one mode, because every single mode had an unhealthy population. And they gave all DLC away for free as a "celebration" of the one year anniversary. Who ever does that? A failing game obviously. The Mass Effect games which are 6-11 years old still have DLC at full price and just never go on sale.

It doesn't surprise me this game is under $5 only a year after launch.

Star Wars is popular, but that isn't enough to sustain it long term. The Old Republic MMO crashed and burned the same way and had to go free to play.

EA really squandered the exclusive SW license, and you have to assume that Disney is not happy with the deal. 5 years into their 10 year deal, all EA have to show for it is two Battlefront games with one of them loaded with controversy (not just loot boxes, but boneheaded exec speak like "You wouldn't want a pink Darth Vader"), and the other missing a SP campaign.

      • 250ms ping was good back when i played qwtf and cs beta. Ahhh, those were the days.

      • Matchmaking against US sounds better than last time I played it, when you have to manually swap your matchmaking region.

  • Thank you I bought it!

  • If anyone wants to add me on origin its solidus_snake000 :)

  • Just ordered where is the code? It said still pending?

    EDIT:

Got it now under Game Library.

Just found that I also ordered BF4 from there on 2013

  • +1

    Points of note:
    - forget the release problems. Loot crates are no more. Progression is based on playing/scoring only
    - support and content for this game has very surprisingly gained momentum over the last few months and it appears like it is going to continue into 2019. Props to DICE for this. Anakin and Dooku heroes and a new large scale game mode very shortly, and devs seem to be keen on clone wars era content
    - it’s still too lightweight and spammy for my liking. I’d prefer something slower and more tactical and thinky. But the Star Wars keeps me playing
    - having said that, geonosis (only just released) is freakin awesome on a full pop server
I play on ps4 btw. A bit shameful given my pc gaming upbringing and scorn of fps games with controllers

    • A bit shameful given my pc gaming upbringing and scorn of fps games with controllers

No, what's shameful is showing support toward EA after they shat on the hands that feed them.

This is more than "release problems"

  • I've been stuck on "Your order is being processed. Please do not close this page or click the back button on your browser." for the past 5 mins

    edit:
"Please do not reorder this item.

    • Stick with it. It takes a while

    • ending up going through! thanks op!

  • that is amazing price for a game that came out last year.

  • I play this on PC, it looks stunning. Also a tip for ppl… play aggressive. Death is your friend, you'll soon be killing more than you die and racking in the points and leveling up. I see so many ppl whinge about not having guns or cards etc and they play so defensively as if death matters. The game rewards aggressive go gettem style of play. If you have trouble finding AU games (which is anytime other than our afternoon/evnening) then go to settings in game and select USA Virgina region, you'll get 200ms-250ms ping but playable for most.

    • If you have trouble finding AU games (which is anytime other than our afternoon/evnening) then go to settings in game and select USA Virgina region, you'll get 200ms-250ms ping but playable for most

Don't need to it does it auto now :)

      • Yeah in my experience it does not work very well, i still find it much better and quicker manually.

  • Thanks!

Just bought it (3:30pp Sydney time).

I just entered a US hotel address. The address doesn't matter.

The CD Key is shown on screen and emailed to you.
    Its an EA Origin key.

  • Damn I paid $120 for the deluxe edition on release day

  • +2

    Should be free

  • Thanks, was waiting for it to get super cheap

  • Had some Amazon credit from some forgotten promotion, so I grabbed it.

    73GB download though =\

  • Thank you OP! Been waiting ages for this to come down to an acceptable price. Just want to play some starwars style single player.

For those living under a rock, this happened last yr…

    https://www.cnbc.com/2017/11/28/eas-day-of-reckoning-is-here…

Out of principle I wouldn't touch it, even if it were free.

    • -1

Out of principle I wouldn't touch it, even if it were free.

People bought it after they changed back.

    • -3

Then you and your principle would be missing out what is an extremely good value prospect given where the game is now, and what has been hinted at to continue in 2019. Free. Of. Charge.

Yes, EA is an extremely easy target given the worst launch ever. Old news. Not relevant in the context of where things are now. And those EA d@ckwads had their greedy hands smacked HARD by both the entire gaming community and presumably by even heftier d@ckwads at Disney for potentially damaging their franchise. I actually like the fact that EA has been put back in its corner so thoroughly, and the thought of some suit standing up in a board room striking through EA's projected MTX revenue for this…well….it almost makes me smile.

      • Negd for talking the truth and siding with gamers. Wow

Enjoy playing with the OZB community in Aus, no one else will be.

        • -1

Enjoy being part of the whinging internet hive-mind that posts all over the internet about games they never played.

        • -1

You're being neg'd because it's not a valid reason to neg the deal according to the site policy.
But dwiw, I upvoted you anyway, people in Australia have the memory of goldfish.

          • +1

@idonotknowwhy: Right, I didn't read guidelines but yes I shouldn't have negd the deal itself it seems… Revoked.

  • cannot order…
added fake us adress deleted my au address and still no go

    • I don't need to delete my au address, just added the US one and change it to the US one during ordering.

      and still no go

      Update to where?

      • yes still no go

        • In cart or payment?

          • @superforever: all good now… tried ordering on mobile… went on my desktop and was able to change my region :)

            • +1

@spoonmugen: I just need to click on the deal link add to cart add US address and ordered
