Good to get a laugh first thing in the morning. Thanks!

  • Typo is the best stationary stores around, unique designs.

  • +2

My kids love Typo and we go through a shit load of cereal!

    • +3

Well, cereal does help move the load.

    • So one could say you are a cereal killer :)

  • +5

I'm going to argue they actually meant $50.

  • It's worth pointing out the plethora of fine print - including that you have to purchase from Colesworth (Metcash stores go into a draw for one of 8x $250 Typo gift vouchers) and that you have to give them a lot of personal fake details. Then you have to wait over a month for the voucher.

    • Not true - the Metcash draw is additional to the $5 voucher you get.

  • +1

On one hand, you get a $5 voucher, on the other hand, you get diabetes.

Seriously, there’s more sugar in some of these cereals than in many confectionary items.

    • It's all fine if it is part of a balanced diet. My twins are 14 and have had cereal since they were 1. We do watch the types they eat and only allow the really high sugar ones on weekends. Most of the time they settle for plain oat porridge anyway! :)

      • It’s better for kids to not have sugar at all. Like smoking, there is no safe level of added sugar.

If you can avoid it (except natural sugars in foods such as fruits), they won’t develop the taste for it.

        • Yeah it's better for kids (and adults) to not have any of a lots of things but we all have to live a little! Rather them have a bit of refined sugar on/in their breakfast than dosing up on meth or heroin!

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: Yeah, because if they don't eat glorified sweets for breakfast, they'll head straight for the crack cocaine!

Seriously, just look at the sugar. Anything more than 3g/100g should be kept away from kids. Some Kelloggs cereals are fully one third refined sugar (38g/100g). That's more per-weight than many chocolate bars.

Just because something has always happened doesn't make it fine.

Australia doesnt have a guideline for sugar but the The American Heart Association (AHA) recommends no more than 6 teaspoons (25 grams) of added sugar per day for women and 9 teaspoons (38 grams) for men. The AHA limits for children vary depending on their age and caloric needs, but range between 3-6 teaspoons (12 - 25 grams) per day.

The AHA recommendation is in line with the World Health Organization's recommendation that no more than 10% of an adult's calories – and ideally less than 5% – should come from added sugar or from natural sugars in honey, syrups and fruit juice. For a 2,000-calorie diet, 5% would be 25 grams.

Australian children aged 14-18 years old consume the highest amount of added sugar, with males consuming an average of 92 grams per day (22 teaspoons) and females 70 grams (17 teaspoons).
The average Australian consumes 60 grams of added sugar, equivalent to approximately 14 level teaspoons.

Typo is to stationery as Cotton On is to clothing… might look good on the shelves but the quality is bad and doesn't last long, at least not with my kids anyway

    • You need to be selective on what you buy. My kids love Typo and Smiggle but I vet any purchases from either for just this reason.

Often the things they have wanted that are $20 or so in store I have got from eBay or Bangood or alike for a few dollars for them. Doesn't matter if it lasts a week if you paid $2.40.

is it a real deal? or a typo?

      Yes.

Loved their $10 Dymocks vouchers last year. I was hoping they would do it again. Looks like they have gone with typo this year. Typo has some awesome items. Thanks for posting. 😀

  • Has anyone had their dockets validated yet ?

    • Not yet. I submitted mine on 02/01.

    • Got one of my three gift cards today. Was hoping they'd come all at once, guess not then

      • Got mine today to. All of mine came together but I did submit them all within the first few days.

  • Anyone know what the participating products are is what size cereal box?

  • Oh dear I bought one of these but I think I tossed the receipt.

  • Anyone else having problems using their vouchers. My 3 wouldn’t work. 🙁

    • Did you get this sorted Jodie?

      • +2

Yes I went in store and they wouldn’t work. The employee rang her supervisor and he said they will only work in full priced items. And she said sorry we can’t accept on sale items. So I went to purchase a full priced item. The voucher still didn’t work . I then showed her the terms and conditions and it didn’t say anything about having to purchase full price in the end the supervisor was rang again and they put them through the till as $0.01. So in the end I benefited 😀

300g boxes are $2.40 at Coles at the moment

  • I received my gift cards. Are these cards redeemable on only on typo items online?
