They are overpriced, it's still more expensive than amazon au after 15% off

    • making reference to a particular lens or just in general ?

      • +1

just for example, the popular D3500
        digidirect $658*0.85=$559.3
        https://www.digidirect.com.au/cameras/dslr_cameras/nikon_d35…
        Amazon au currently $524.46
Not to mention you get 10% or 12% cashback very often

        • -1

          Don't compare to grey stocks.

        • +2

Digidirect is generally cheaper than most stores here in Aus. Pls don't compare local & grey stock, they need to pay tax that support Australians and employ staff to serve you.

          • +9

@itstuan: amazon au is not grey stock
Have you guys checked before you comment or vote me down?
            Just do your research
It's sold and shipped by amazon au with Aust warranty, not amazon us, not 3rd party.
I have been waiting for the best timing to buy 2 particular models and keeping an eye on the prices
The retail price of both model from digidirect are 10% higher than JB, HN etc
while it may be cheaper after 15% off, I am sure there will be boxing day bargain in other stores as well

plus there is always 20% off on ebay and 10% off gift cards

              • @John: Sorry, it's $478 now. $80 cheaper than digiDIRECT
                +you get $47.8 cash back

            • +4

@AsukaST: Amazon may not necessarily be grey stock - although in some cases local/Australian manufacturer warranties do not apply to goods purchased on Amazon but that's another topic

Twentyone makes a good point about tax though; that of tax/tax avoidance by the 'larger' companies like Amazon. Amazon is notorious for their disgusting tax avoidance and profiteering. I know we're all here looking for a bargain but if the price offered by a smaller local (or even international) retailer is similar to the international/national behemoth retailers then it's not a bad idea to support the smaller, more ethical retailer - that tax funds the roads, healthcare and education.

        • Lolol. The D5300 is a “camera”, not a camera.

          • @eggboi: You lost me

            • @tencents: If your measuring stick for a storewide pro camera gear sale is a d5300, you’re doing it wrong

      • Aputure 120d is about $1220 with them whereas closer to $1000 on eBay

    • +4

Depends what it's for. For the Fuji stuff I want DigiDirect is cheaper.

    • -2

Take the 15% off and then another x amount for cashback and surely you're now saving. This is not even bringing in TRS.

      • +2

Am I missing something; what does TRS got to do with it? Any retailer including Amazon that sell directly will be applying the GST. I must be a pleb too, because I am not on constant standby to fly overseas to claim TRS!

    • Some items are competitively priced. Then 15% off makes it a good bargain.

    • If $500 on a body is expensive and you obviously haven't bought anything decent lenses (cause Digidirect it's probably the best price/service retail chain in Australia), then you probably wouldn't appreciate Digidirect anyway.
+1 for 15% is years of the 10% they often do every 6 months.

Just a pity the Sony A7 and GFX are excluded, though my wife is probably greatful ;)

    • I don't know what is going on with this negative vote domino effect. You are spot on. I got a Nikon 14-24 2.8 lens from Amazon for 1709, before any cashback. Digidirect are selling it for $2378. That is nearly $700. Would any of the down voters tell me how that isn't overpriced or maybe digitdirect employees are the ones downvoting?

  • +7

I haven't found them to be overpriced. At the moment, they are selling the Panasonic G9 for the cheapest price in Australia, for example.

    • i guess there's no chance of the g9 25% off stacking with another 15% off is there? One can only dream.

  • +1

There will be exclusions from this

    • +2

Almost certainly Sony will be excluded again :(

  • +1

They are ok priced. And probably the best when it comes to price matching based on me and my friends experience.

    • +1

Not my experience, maybe it is staff dependent. Asked a staff to price match Michael's. Staff was rude and basically said just go and buy it there. Price difference wasn't big.

  • we'll see. Here's hoping does 20% site wide.

  • are preorder items included in the sale?

    • My question too. Thinking to purchase DJI Osmo pocket (pre-order) with this 15% off.

      • perhaps the bmpcc 4k too? Videopro and videoguys seem to already have it…?

      • dji products are excluded. I'm after a Sigma lens and it's excluded too..

      • George's Camera have Osmo pocket on sale 10% off at $539.10

        • Avoid. Has troublesome setup via app. Has a poorly located usb port and other dud features. Get a GoPro silver and flash it

          • +1

@jerum3030: Are you going to sell yours, mate? Given this level of dissatisfaction I'm expecting the best deal of a used DJI pocket :)

        • … and DigiDirect will price match Georges.

Source: Me (purchased about 3hrs ago)

    • Yeah I'd like to "pre order" an Atomos Ninja V.

Strange a lot other Aussie places have it already?

Can't seem to find any find print about the 15% of sale that might have something about pre orders

  • Z6 + 24-70/f4 is currently tempting. But will stick with the D810 for awhile.

  • Everything seems to be cheaper on Fleabay (at least the Canon gear) even factoring in 15% extra off. Can also get min 5% off ebay anyday of the week too.

Lol… just noticed they are selling a dinosaur 1DX (yes, Mark 1 not 2) for $7 grand and change!

  • i expect a 'excludes all sony items'

    • If not then price match at Sony kiosk and use amex cashback if you have.

  • How are they for lens? Overpriced?

  • eBay 20% is better deal using 10% off gift card

  • +2

Just a heads up, and probably not going to be an issue for most people, but there is a thread on Digidirect over at Whirlpool discussing the practice of back ordering products that the website indicates are in stock. The thread is full of back and forth “discussion”, but there are a few people that have ordered in stock items from Digidirect and then waited a month or more for delivery.

    • I’ve never had an issue personally, and have bought quite a bit of gear through them. Have seen that discussion on WP

    • +1

If you want to be sure it's in stock, call them before ordering.

      • If you want to be sure it's in stock, call them before ordering.

Some of the complaints on the Whirlpool thread relate to people calling and being told that something is in stock when it’s not.

  • +8

Digi Direct usually have the lowest price in Australia (without an eBay sale in place), I find they generally are more friendly and good to deal with compared to Teds or George's.

Having said that, pairing this 15% off with the current Sony A7rIII deal ($500 Cashback) you can grab yourself a bargain. I'm in the market for a Samyang 14mm.

    • +2

      In line with my experience.

    • +3

Yes, and hunting bottom dollar does have consequences - look at jetstar. If these guys are reasonably priced and good service then that is a good balance.

    • The ppl in the Brisbane store are very friendly.

  • leica q-p excluded? i hope not, that's the end game .

  • +1

If anyone's looking to pickup a Fuji XT2, it's going for $1100 at the moment on the website.
20% off, as well as the $350 cashback Fujifilm Australia is promoting!

  • +1

    Fuji X-H1 is $1690( 15%off+ 350 cashback), Good price,

    • Needs battery grip

  • +1

Am after a high-end point and shoot, any recommendations? :)

    • +2

Sony RX100 series are easy to use and very good. Depends on your budget too though.

      • My wife got the RX100 VI.

Get yourself the Sony selfie-stick/tripod and away you go.

    • I am after the same.
Preferably with articulating/ selfie screen, mic input, good video & connectivity.

      • Yeah as above the rx100 iii would be good for photos and video.

However be aware point and shoots are becoming obsolete, if not already, by decent smartphones.

        • Black Friday sales had the RX100 ii for $350 without stacking any other offer/ discounts.

It would be nice to see that again or a really good price on the iii or IV

    • If you haven't already I would check out DPreview's high end compact comparison (https://www.dpreview.com/reviews/buying-guide-best-pocketabl…). I have a first generation RX100 and it has served me well. Almost all the complaints I have about that model (slow lens on the telephoto end, average low light performance, no EVF) have been rectified on the new models by now. They are expensive though. To alleviate that I would personally go for a slightly older model (maybe gen IV/V). Of course there are plenty of options from other brands too.

  • +2

Sale is already active. Some exclusions from their website
    .
All Sigma, DJI and Eizo products
Sony: A7 III, A7R III, RX100 VI, HX99, WX800 and all Sony lenses
Fujifilm: GFX-50R, GFX-50S and all GF lenses
Canon: cine range including cine lenses and C300 II, C100 II and C200
    Leica: M10-D, Leica Q, Leica Q-P
    Tamron: 28-75mm (Sony E mount)
RØDE: RØDECaster Pro and RØDE NT-SF1

Having said that A7III is showing as $2668 which is not too bad

    • Tempted to grab a Feiyu Vimbal 2 - down to under $75 with the sale, could be fun to play with.
Any camera gear I bought in their last 15% sale about a month ago. Wasn't in stock, but was shipped for free and quite quickly (about 10 days from order placement).
I've spent over $30k with them over the years, never a problem, the guys in store are always helpful for me.

  • +1

Some of the items that had the 20-25% discount, pre Christmas. now just have 15%

  • Any free shipping codes 🤔

  • Says storewide, then excludes anything that's actually good…sigh…

    • Excludes: Stuff people actually want to buy.

edit: Looks like drones excluded also. T&C makes mention of Clearance sale so I suspect they're just moving old shit nobodies been buying.

  • Some Nikon lenses are excluded as well.

A good deal for the 200-500mm…great lens for wildlife and with discount and cashback can be had at a great price.
    https://www.digidirect.com.au/camera_lenses/slr_lenses/nikon…

  • +3

So many exclusions, what a joke.

  • +8

Am I the only person annoyed that they call it a "storewide" sale but with such a long list of exclusions?
Isn't this some sort of bait and switch tactic? Luring people to their site with a promise of 15% off storewide only to find a lot of products are not discounted.

Should've been called 15% of selected products.

    • +2

I just mentioned that to a digidirect staff member and even they agreed it was misleading.
I guess the laws about deceptive conduct just aren't enforced enough for digidirect to even care?

Then again, even this post is deceptive as it currently stands - the heading should say something like "Many exclusions apply"

      • +2

They also ended early the 25% selected items promotion to start this one. Pretty lame

        • What I wanted to buy is now more expensive because of Black Friday sales 🤔

      • At least the title on here has now been updated to say "Exclusions Apply"

  • +4

Was looking at getting an Instax SP-2 printer but the price has actually gone up since yesterday - pretty sure it was around $110 yesterday.

  • +7

comical AF with the huge exclusions.

  • The Nikon Z6 with 24-70mm lens and adaptor is selling for $3447.60, which is the lowest price I've seen anywhere.

  • Got this email in the inbox

"Boxing Day Sale - 15% off Storewide!!!"

    is the email header.

I'd say its misleading. Might report them to the ACCC.

    • -6

feel free to waste your time. much like you did with mine making me read that trash and reply

  • +1

Any success price match with OW?

    • I wouldn’t mind a price match with OW or Harvey so I can use my Amex offer.

Might be the first time I don’t use the offer
