If you’re a member of one of the motoring clubs (NRMA, RACV, etc), you
might want to check out Vodafone. They currently have the galaxy S for $0 repayment on their 24-month $29 cap.

Navigate to the link below:

Normally this phone is on the $49 Cap for Vodafone and similar for Optus and Virgin.

By my calculation, your min cost over 24 months should be (after 10% discount ):

$29 * 10% off * 24 months = $626.4

This is to beat Virgin's $39 Easy Cap, which has $10 off the first 12 months of the 24 month plan. But if you're on Virgin check this out…

Possibly Moneyback Co.

You can check out the specs on the Vodafone site.
IMO the Galaxy S is one of or the best android phone in the Australian market atm.
Ty in advance to yjm, i copied ur format from the HTC Legend deal, since it was an excellent post.

  • Can't see anything on their site about 3 months free. Do they still offer that?

    • Soz, my bad ill delete it now…

I used yjm from the HTC legend deal…. didnt remove everything

  • Looks good to me! Nice find

  • Do Vodafone do the same thing as 3 in which if you go up by 1 cap amount (ie 29 to 49) its only a 12mo contract?

  • They had this deal before for 12 months minus 3 months off and 10% off on a $69 contract. Worked out to about $620. Good deal but with SGS II dropping soon I'd hold out.

  • +1

I already got the HTC Legend deal, so I am just wondering if Vodafone would do a upgrade if I extend my contract to three years?

  • +1

    Shame it's on skodafone really.

    • lol at neggers, enjoy the worst network in Australia you lemons

  • +2

this offer is available to everyone, you do NOT have to be part of RACV, NRMA etc.

  • Do you still got $84 money back from MoneyBackCo? I did not get it last time with the HTC legend deal.

    • you do if you did it right, I got moneyback from the legend (had to put in a claim but in the end it came through)

  • $0 on 12 month contracts are always sweet with a phone like this.

no wait i read it wrong. i fail at life.

      • it's ok, just take the blue pill and everything will be alright :)

same offer on the normal site. only diff. is you save 10% in auto
but normal site comes with $50 credit, also will definitely have buckscoop cash back.

as a while ago auto sign up was no longer available for the cash back.
    so probably better deal.

  • Hmmm…would 200mb data a month be sufficient?

    • Barely. Depends on if you want to use it. Androids chatter a lot. Data will be used when it's idling

    • Depends. My mum uses Skype, Messenger, FB and Tango pretty much on her mobile and she uses about 200mb each month. As long as you keep track you can stop. I think its manageable as long as your not doing youtube and stuff like that.

    • 200mb would be the minimum for basic android features like gmail/calendar/contact syncing on the go. You wouldn't want to do updates over 3G very often.
If you did the vast majority of updates, web browsing on WiFi, 200mb would be enough. but you'd run close to the limit every month.
Use a live data usage tracking widget or app would be definitely advisable (rather than rely on a vodafone counter which is probably delayed by 24 hours)

I have 80mb a month and I get all my google services on sync, weather updates every 2hrs, browse the net for average 10min a day, all on 3G. Usually stays below 70mb/month.

      • I am sitting on around 200MB for the whole month with Telstra. At home I use WiFi but when out and about I have watched a couple of Youtube videos, app updates, constant emails and frequent we browsing. However might want to check but I think Telstra billing of data sessions (the block increments) is more favourable to how vodafail measure data usage…

      • +1 always use wifi if I can as well

    • Thanks heaps for that info. I've ordered one! Sayonara Motorola KRZR!!

    • Possible. But it means almost no youtube or streaming of any kind, light browsing, don't download or update apps, and don't rely on it for maps.

    • Um, I have 1GB a month and go over every month. Whoopsie. But then again, I'm on it constantly.

Just signed up for this deal with Vodafone … however I was able to negotiate a better deal for data … I told them of the Crazy John's 1Gb data offer which Vodafone agreed to match!

      • Wow nice. Didn't expect that from Vodafone lol

      • Look43Bs I could kiss you!!! This has absolutely made my day. CHEERS MATE!!

        • you two need a moment outside?

  • How do I get the $84?

  • a shame that its on vodafail, these phones can't be unlocked and used on other telstra can it?

    • They can be unlocked for free as long as the phone came from a contract.

    • wouldn't be NextG compatible either.. I reckon this would be the 900MHz version.
It'll be interesting to see the handsets Voda starts to offer when they finish their 850MHz network though..

      • Isn't the 850MHz network not as widespread and just to remove the Quad-band devices such as iPhone 4 (or the earlier 850Mhz iPhones) from their core network?? Thats what i ahd first heard, but by all means I dont keep upto date on Vodafail news….

      • 1500 towers nationwide I think…
I didn't know anything about the 850MHz Vodafone network build until yesterday myself.
Possibly is just to take off the pressure of iPhone data traffic off their regular network…. Seems a strange strategy to me. They'll have 3 different 3G frequencies to deal with now!

  • I've got this phone and it's got speedmod kernal. Still it's sluggish at times and gives me a headache. Yes there are custom roms but I really shouldn't have to flash to get a smooth running phone. To be fair though most smartphones I've used have been sluggish at times. The iphone 4 is very slick but the OS is boring, I tend to hardly use it. Once you have your widgets perfectly set up on the android homescreen you wonder how you ever lived without it.

Anywho, this plan is pretty good. 24mth contract is pretty long though and all the new dual-core phones are starting to come out as well. I got a friend who's with Voda on 24mth contract and regretting it everyday.

oh yeah, update 2.3 is supposed to happen mid month according to Samsung. Though different in all countries.. Optus wasn't too bad with the update to 2.2… I think it was 2-3 months when Samsung released it to get it on my phone.

  • Can get it for $29 at Crazy Johns with $200 plus 1Gb bonus data for the life of your contract

        ?

        • Best thing about it is you don't get to be thethered to a piss poor network like skodafone :)

        • +1

          ?

I signed up for the Vodafone deal yesterday. I might have gone with the Optus deal had I known about it! :)

hahaha brilliant. I read the comments on the way down and when I got to blitz comment I almost lost it.

So it looks like CJ is the way to go if you're OK with Vodafone? I guess 1g is better than the $2.90 in savings =) Then again, it is vodafone. Hmmmm

    • I can't find the $200 part?

    • Thanks Glyde. I called up crazy johns and they also threw in 1 month free so doesn't hurt to ask.

      • Thats a good deal

    • I would suggest that if you were to present this deal to Vodafone they would probably match it!
