I'm looking to print my digital photos (from a nice full frame DSLR) to good quality photo paper*.
In order of priority, I'm looking for:
1 - High quality+long lasting.
2 - low price,
3 - fast turn.
Would be great if the print can last 100years+, like art galleries/museums.
I don't mind paying more if the quality is there.
20cm x 30cm or so is a nice size.
*no need for canvas or other novelty finishes, not album or photo book etc.
Are the general department stores good enough?
Office Works, Big W, Kmart, Harvey Norman etc?
Online photo printers?
Snapfish, vista print etc?
Or are the specialized printers really worth the extra price?
Nulab/nushots, Queensbury, RGB digital etc?
I've only ever used BigW for printing my photos, so that can be a benchmark. I'm actually pretty happy with them, but I'm sure there is much better quality out there. And it would be nice to find prints that will last 100years+.
Besides recommending a great photo printer in Melbourne, I would also love to see if anyone wants to list bad printers that should be avoided.
Bond Colour in Gwynne st Richmond, these are a proper pro lab, and charge pro prices!. I used them for many years as a working pro snapper, with an account. I have since retired, but I think they now do a pre-pay lower cost service for the public at a lower price point rather than the full on pro service!.
