Buying OVERPOWERED Laptop from Wal-Mart and Shipping It Here

Not sure if you guys have seen this laptop at USD $899, but it's a well documented steal at this price!

Which freight forwarded do you guys reccomend? I really don't want to pay the extra 10% either, if you know what I mean ;)

1060 and overpowered can't be on the same page

    • Marketing people can make anything possible, just ask them.

$1250 + a shit load of shipping for a GTX1060? Not worth the effort or the money

    Would've been worth the extra

    • The one time I decided to focus on work, I missed the deal of 2018
i haven't slept well since that day.
no one else have them at that price either

strangely enough, the other stores that used to stock them suddenly decided not to sell them, as if the staff themselves bought whats left at the distys

  • I'd advise looking to metabox before considering that.

Buy a cheap windows key/install unactivated windows and voila, great laptop for the money.

    • Download KMSpico to get a key

  • Thanks for the feedback everyone. I will check other options as well.

According to review this laptop chassis has some of the best thermals for such a thin laptop.

  • Just tried to configure a similarly specced metabox prime s and it came in at $2081, the alpha comes in at $1811. Both without windows of course.

Just reading through this, it seems that this is a very good laptop for the money. For example, it has 2x m.2 slots, and the screen is fairly good.

So OVERPOWERED (all caps) is actually the brand name, not a claim the that laptops are overpowered. Clever marketing but also deceptive.

  • $899 USD ~ $1252 AUD.
Shipping charges ~ Approximately $50-$100 for Fedex/UPS if you can find one, or use a mail forwarder
    GST charges based on Item AND shipping, ($1300~$1350) x 10% = $130~$135
Customs processing fee will be $50 or so

    To import this laptop you're looking at $1252 + $50~$100 + $130~$135 + $50 = $1482 ~ $1537

    Not to mention no warranty.

  • I imported a Lenovo from USA using shipito, saved about 2k compared to local price and still had warranty.

shipping was $80 USD, no gst as I bought before the rule changes, they will now collect it.

There are some computer stores that don't collect 10% but they probably wouldn't sell wallmart stuff. I don't see how you can avoid it

    • For it to have warranty, it needs to come with intl warranty.. not many brands have that

    • yes, that is why i was hoping not to pay gst ;)

I believe this is a good price for a gtx 1060 and is also australian stock.

  • Agreed on a good price, but : i5 vs i7, 8gb ram vs 16gb, 3gb gpu vs 6gb gpu, 120hz screen vs 144hz bigger form factor, only supports one m.2 drive as opposed to two.

It's crazy how much there is to think about when comparing laptops! grrr it's driving me nuts!

I really think that if you are in the US and you can just walk in to Walmart and buy one of those at $899, that is insane value!

  • It's actually $799 now! Wow!
