How does this compare to the Mi Desk Lamp?

    • +8

The Mi Desk Lamp is significantly better as is reflected by the price. The COOWOO is great if you want an adjustable desk lamp that doesn't have to be constantly plugged in with the option of charging your devices.

The Mi Desk Lamp however will lighten up a much larger area with more adjustable brightness/warmth settings and app control.

These are great! And make excellent gifts

  • And the USB ports are fast charging or just like computer ports?

    • Description covers that. Max 2.1a while a computer USB port will be 0.5-0.9a. Obviously not fast charging as no QC/PD technologies but good enough.

I personally don't use my COOWOO for charging my devices at my desk. Instead I have my Baseus Fan running off it. Shameless plug because that fan is seriously fast and better than your Kmart special.

      • That fan is protable. It's also portable, but it really likes tables and their stance on current issues.

Might get one, has your longevity been good?

        • Been using it nearly every day for 2 months now and it holds up well. The fan is a tad loud, especially on the 2 higher settings but that's because of the speed.

  • Do the USB ports support pass through or does if awkwardly draw power from battery while it's plugged in tryna charge?

    • +1

Just tested with mine. It supports pass through.

      • I mean it in the way of if the battery is still powering the ports or if it's powered directly via the power source when plugged in.

First I assume would impact battery life, second would probably impact performance (current limiting to avoid 2.4Ah caps) or safety (if no current limiting).

        • +1

That's where it gets difficult. When the lamp isn't fully charged the power button has a faint red light that stays illuminated even if you plug in a device to be charged. Perhaps if I fully charge the lamp so the red light goes and see?

  • Very ugly lamp imo, the blitzwolf lamp looks much better although more $$$

    • Have you got a link for that one as I like BlitWolf products?

I have this Coowoo U1 and find it very functional and contemporary modern looking.

Also have a cheaper/smaller/lighter one also in white, great value but lacks usb output and do prefer the look and features of the Coowoo, but great for outdoor patio use or camping.

Blitzwolf. Has the more generic look but packed with features.

        • Thanks Clear.

Good follow up ( even if question was directed at "slack bit_jet" lol ) and love your detailed technical product know how.

          • @ozhunter68: No worries. I have a legit side hustle when it comes to China tech. It's my job to know these things ;)

            • @Clear: Haha, true, true. But not all Reps are as helpful as others.

                @ozhunter68: To them it's a job. To me it's a passion. That's the difference.

                • @Clear: And,…maybe you haven't got any/too many small screaming kid(s),…yet :-)

                  • @ozhunter68: I keep telling myself I'm too young for kids.

    • for the same price xiaomi desk lamp is way better. even has google home integration built in

  • With Joybuy do they input second line address into their package? When i bought something it looks like it only had 1st line address on my order page delivery address and i'm still waiting on my package..

how is this related to xiaomi? I don't think it's xiaomi branded/certified

    • +2

COOWOO is a Xiaomi backed company. Like pretty much every other product except those under the Mijia branding. Just look at the Chinese mi.com or Youpin store to see.

It's how Xiaomi works. Besides their phones and tablets, all other products are made by someone else. E.g. Yeelight for lights, Huami for Mi Bands, ZMI for power banks, Amazfit for smartwatches, Aqara for smart home products… I could go on.
