Free Bashful Stop Procrastinating App (Was $4.99) @ Google Play [Promo Codes]

00

Hi all,

I have developed an Android app to help prevent phone addiction, which operates on the principle of blocking you from using your phone. It does this in 3 ways:

  • Immediate distraction-free time (free): this allows you to lock your phone for some duration immediately. If you really need to use your device, you can temporarily unlock it for a specified time (say 30 seconds). Phone calls will still come through normally.
  • Schedule time (premium): setup times/days for which to lock your phone.
  • Geofence locations (premium): setup locations at which to lock your phone.

These promo codes are for the last 2 features, which are normally available for $4.99 as an in-app purchase.

Last time I ran a promo on OzBargain, I pasted a list of promo codes in the description. I understand that can be frustrating and time-consuming, so for this promo I have developed a website (Redeemly) to distribute the 50 promo codes. It simply asks for an email address, and will send the code to that address. I'd love to hear any thoughts on this process as well!

Thanks, and please let me know what you think!

  • Thanks, but my phone already comes with this feature.

I call it the power off button.

    • C'mon Scab - don't be a grinch.

But you're not wrong, and I'm currently (not) using Digital Wellbeing as a usage controller.

Props to OP for making it - with >10k installs too! (hope they're not fakes)

    • +1

You're stronger than I am! I like to think of it as a happy medium between totally turning off the phone (what if I miss an important phone call?), and constantly being tempted to use the device.

Play Store link for those curious.

OP - may be worth putting the above in your description?

Love some of the reviews by the way:

1 star: "But we can easily close this app by pressing that blue button we will get 20 sec. Now if we pull down the status bar and go to settings then open apps option in settings then select bashful then force stop it.Please fix this …!!!"

SMH… the app isn't a lockout, it's to help you train yourself not to constantly be on your phone. Personally I'd like the ability to force stop / uninstall in the 20 seconds: gives me a way to disable it if I really need to.

Good job on the app OP - won't be using it myself, but good on you. Looks functional without looking rubbish :)

    • Thanks, you're exactly right. The idea is to make unlocking the phone just annoying enough to remove any temptation.

  • All 50 tokens have now been redeemed! Thanks to everyone who got involved. Enjoy the app and please let me know if you have any suggestions for either Bashful or Redeemly.
