STA Travel Price Match No More - Need New Company

Booked a flight last night and found out they don't pricematch with online retailers such as BYOJet and BestJet anymore. Personally, I would rather book with STA travel because they have better customer service than the sites above. Does anyone know any other companies that will price match online retailers?

    flight centre

    • is there a way to search multi trip flights on their website?

      • You find the multi city flight online, then call them to match it.

  • I got told when I booked my flight through flight centre that they only price match flights if they want to. It is store dependant and if they feel price if still profitable. Also got told that any price match comes out of staff's commission. Seems that Flight Centre is too big and can now pick and choose sales.

now with STA travel not price matching flights i'm going to have to resort to those third party online sites which always have bad reviews..

      • Best price, great customer service….. is there anything else on your list your majesty

    • Whoever told you that is just trying to get out of doing a price match.

Flight Centre price beat policy is here:
      https://www.flightcentre.com.au/lowest-airfare-guarantee

      • they no longer do price beat any more, as specified on the website details.

    • Staff get commission on $$ brought in. If the amount charged it lowered by a price match, then their commission is going to be lowered as well.

      • The cost to company to price beat is sometimes worn by staff:

Terrible situation. I have price matched several flights at Flight Centre but in future will think twice about it.

        • Before I booked the flight with STA, I had a chat with live chat and they said they couldn't price match because the cost price. I had checked the flight on the Qantas site beforehand and it came out to be 30 dollars more expensive. I'm sure that the cost of the flight is lower than the price advertised, but would understand why their company might need to punish their staff. rule of thumb is always shop around when buying flights.

          • @poormansfriedchicken: Punish staff for simply abiding by a policy set by the company. Wow.

            • @tranter: they'll receive commission from the sale not as much as intended but better than nothing.

              • @poormansfriedchicken: If you read the news article I linked to in another thread above you will see cost of price beat may actually be worn by staff

Doing a price beat not only costs them money, it also takes them away from other sale opportunities.
