    coles vs woolies(wesfarmers)

    • +1

      Coles = Wesfarmers (WES.AX)
      Woolies = Woolies (WOW.AX)

      • True!

        • Wesfarmers is bunnings right?

        • Correct.

  • áre they cheaper insurance than say Budget or AAMI or GIO?

  • They give me 3rd party fire and theft for $342. So much cheaper then anything else I can find.

    I plan to go with them very soon.

  • they are like 316 for me.

  • comprehensive

  • it will depend on what car you have, when it was manufactured, and more variables(i think)

    There's no 'this insurer is cheaper, period'. It depends on so many things, as issh said.
    Car: Year, engine power, make, extras & colour. No, I'm not lying, colour.
    Driver: Age, driving history, gender, how long you've had your license, demerit points & any past accidents
    Different insurers take some of the above factors into account more than others. Youi, for example, are pretty lenient on young drivers, but a 6 cylinder engine pretty much puts you out of the running. AAMI on the other hand will rip you off incredibly if you're under 24, but don't care if you're driving around in an 8 cylinder timebomb.

  • Hang on.. I just did a quote and got an estimate of $486 but I didn't include my current insurer (all other details entered). I then entered current insurer and the quote went up to $546… WTF!!!

      • For me Kmart was 1182 and coles was 1185. Much of a muchness for me, either way it's a noticeable amount more than I pay now.

        This is why I wish people would listen when you tell them you can't just take other peoples opinion on pricing for granted. Take an hour out of your life and get quotes for 15 or so insurers, not hard and could save you hundreds of dollars a year.

          True, but kmart seem to be on average cheaper when using 3rd party/fire and theft compared to many other providers, even when I've put in family members etc.

          Comprehensive is the real random one however. Probably a huge conspiracy so that all companies have a niche in something that keeps them appear competitive but able to profit hugely on everyone else ;)

        • I really should cut down to 3rd party. Full comp on a shitbox kind of feels like money down the drain, it's just hard to give it up when I couldn't afford the 2k or so for another shitbox if I crashed it. :P

    Always check against Bingle. If you beat Bingle you have a bargain. Last year I claimed on my Bingle policy and they were excellent…not received my renewal quote yet this year though ;-)

    • Bingle are horrible for young people. $1500 a year for full comp on a falcon? No thanks.

    And once you've got your best quote, go back to your current insurers and see if they'll beat it.

  • Even better for the same insurance (Wesfarmers) would be the one from Coles

    http://www.colesinsurance.com.au/car-insurance/special-offer…

    where you effectively get a 12cent fuel voucher every month. Kmart offers 2500 Fly Buys points (worth $20) - the 12 cent fuel voucher works out to be a better deal if you use a fair amount of fuel each month.

    • How strange, Coles charges $400 for me where kmart charge $342. But both appear to be using the same system.

      • If you live on Sydney north shore and switch from AAMI, NRMA or GIO, an even cheaper quote is available from coles.com.au/northshore up to 31/5/2011. Special benefits include $100 Savings Guarantee, 2 Year Price Freeze and Free Roadside Assistance and the monthly fuel discount.
        My insurance was more than $200 cheaper than GIO using this offer.

  • yeah Kmart is cheaper. I've checked
