I got home to find a letter from Latitude Finance re my Go Mastercard, saying that as part of an administrative system cleanup they have taken my credit balance of $5.55 and my account balance is now NIL. I tried ringing to query but I'm in a different time zone to their call centre and it was already after hours. I will try again in the morning, but in the meantime I'm wondering if anyone else here had had the same letter in the past, and if they were successful in getting their money returned? I know it's not a big amount, but it's still not theirs to take. I also got a letter re my 28 Degrees card but that one was only 57 cents.

To be honest I'm not entirely certain when I last used the card. I know that dormant account balances can get transferred to the govt after five years but the letter didn't mention that this was the case.
I had about 20 cents in a Citibank savings account for a couple of years, closed it because I never used it. They sent me a cheque for that amount. I didn't even bother taking it to the bank.
Remember when we all paid deposit tax? That 20c would have been eaten up in FID.
No it wouldn't, FID was something like .06% of the deposit
I wonder what they would say if I sent them a letter saying that I was going take my negative balance and make it NIL
LOL
They have cleaned out my -95c balance that was unpaid a few months. So I was lucky I guess
You havnt told us how long the credit balance has been there for
